My Mafia Madness 5 (Brilliant Addictive Series)

"An outstanding continuation of this perfect series! Just when I was thinking that things were going well and simple for the couple (since the previous book's ending was a prelude to a savoury made-up moment shared between the couple), the chills rapidly made their way back to my spine with the next outstanding event, picturing Matteo's return and encounter with everybody. Not to mention De Luca's appearance, which was unannounced to his accomplices, the final bloodbaths that ensued (both at the hotel and at the safehouse), and also Santo's questioning. Just when I thought that Alexa's unlucky occurrences, which often happen, were fortunately only the ones in which she faints, rather than being kidnapped or severely assaulted, horifying acts towards her came back as she was taken again. Also, Matteo forced himself upon her (and I was thinking that he wouldn't go that far, even the Mafia head Stephan and the Grishin brothers considered it outrageous), making her face horrible feelings of being abused, both physically and mentally. I could feel her emotions of a shattered heart when she heard the news about Dante's death, when she struggled to escape from the exploitative actions done towards her, or when her anger or fright burst out. The writing style makes it so creepy, so painful, yet sooo good, that it feels like living within every written line. When things got worse and a mafia war began, Dante's reinforcements, along with those of the Levines, Russos, and the surprise from Boris and Lev, made the action sublime! Also, Dante's frightening Reaper mode, torturing and killing his captives, is honestly breathtaking. I gasped in astonishment when he ended Carlo's life, like many other moments which signalled his victims' last moments. I love it when his actions match his strong character. Coming from the family, Matteo's hits came the hardest, as he is purely crazy and driven by toxic obsession, jealousy, and infatuation mixed with instability. No wonder Dante felt like his world was crashing when Matteo taunted him with Alexa's abuse. Even though we're all rooting for him, the other enemies' need for revenge was somehow justified and more understandable (Vincenzo being betrayed by Dante's father and Santo having his family brutally murdered and being seriously maimed). And in contrast to Matteo's heartbreaking betrayal, at least we have Roberto, who is helping us enjoy the family's heartwarming support (and also Nicola's and his other henchmen's loyalty, all the emotions were perfectly balanced). I still remember from previous books some moments, such as Alexa meeting the other two brothers (while they kept harmlessly joking about each other) or when they played that pool game in which they had to knock each other down. So many things have changed since then... Another awesome plot that I can't pass by without mentioning is the surreal unfairness between the three: Matteo being obsessed with Alexa (surely because she is drop-dead gorgeous, fierce, being his brother's woman and having a dreamlike connection with him), while Roxanne fell in love with him after their repeated intercourse, and it wasn't reciprocated. Even though Matteo cares for Alexa in his own way, which benefits none, the whole situation is heartbreaking (not that I'm complaining, that's why I'm so deeply moved by this series). At least Matteo also had a panicked attack when he was threatened to lose a finger, the idea alone made me keep giggling. Besides the main couple's adventures, Nicola's crush was a huge surprise. This big guy deserves some happiness with a fine matching woman. Also, when Roberto was overwhelmed with emotions at meeting his daughter for the first time, I think every reader's heart swelled up with joyful emotions. And as she became a mother, Willow turned into a wiser woman, more mature, and this fact cannot be simply skipped. At around chapter 40, realisation hit me that half of the book was written to sensitively describe what happened in a matter of a few days (about a week). How cool, artistic and captivating can this be, each description making it so easy to be hooked within the story. Although I assume they will grow old together and somehow they'll have a happily ever after, I still gasp and get the chills every time someone is stabbed, shot, or pained with the feeling of losing a loved one. This is making me experience the real meaning of "it is about the journey, not the destination". But this brilliant ending made me forget any book that I thought about from my TBR list and immediately jump to the next part of "My Mafia Madness" unforgettable series. "
