Background history
King Lovelock, was first and only crusnik to exist and created vampires due to pity, took on a dying human village in the 10th century. Lovelock took a small vial of his diluted blood and gave two drops to each of the town’s five head families. Each family then had to choose the two who would carry on the family name and live. Though Lovelock took pity on the village he wasn’t going to save everyone thus the first vampires were created.
The reason they weren’t turned into crusnik’s specifically is because Lovelock wanted to have rein over the newly created creatures he later called vampires. He wanted to make sure he could control what he created and not lose control and be overthrown or even killed. In order to make sure that they were a lower species in comparison to himself, he removed a large portion of the venom from his blood and mixed it with that of celtic fairy blood. Thus making vampires who craved blood over normal foods though they could have normal food they didn’t tend to lust over it as they did human blood. Lovelock thought this was due to the celtic fairy specific diet on human blood. Though a bit inconvenient he didn’t see it as an issue.
The original vampire families ruled under Lovelocks control and formed that of an hierarchy consisting of five vampire family’s. Duke Dupree right hand man to Lovelock. Marquess Luthor, a quiet man. Earl Valentine is a shy but smart man. Viscount De’vile a man who silently wanted the throne. Baron Alaric is an outspoken and over opinionated man.
During the 18th century Lovelock and his followers established a kingdom which consisted of vampires and humans along with other creatures. This became one of the first safe zones and soon became a fairy tale amongst humans around the 20th century. Those who didn’t live there would only hear of the city through rumors and in fairytale books. Those who did live there kept the city a secret if they ever left or traveled around.
Lovelock around this time found his first wife a rare white werewolf who was leader to a pack after a few years of trying to win her over he had his first child Deadty. Both decided the boy would have his mothers last name and run her pack if anything were to happen. Deadty Lovette, like his mother, was a rare white wolf but he also was born with two tails and was bigger than a normal werewolf. Deadty being the first half, Crusnik born now added to the tally making the current count two in existence. Only after two years Deadty’s mother and her pack decided to move on. Both parents thought it better for Deadty to stay with his father in the safe city walls.
Lovelock found his second wife by pure accident and the grace of the gods one year later. Lovelock had happened upon one of the rarest creatures to still exist: a dragon but no ordinary dragon but an elemental one. She was injured during a long flight to the land of her people which was even a myth among the creatures of the city. Dragons were sought after and even harder to find because unlike most creatures they lived long before any intelligent life came to be. Dragons were said to be one of the first creatures to exist, even creating rivers and canons.
So when Lovelock stumbled upon her he was at a loss of words; she took his breath away and made the world around them fade. He found himself walking toward her and for those who know, this was a terrible idea. Never walk up to a dragon who knows not of you including an injured one. Without hesitation she sent Lovelock flying with a thrash of her tail, of course Lovelock knew he could only blame himself. After hours of trying to calm her and explain he wasn’t going to hurt her any farther then she was he got the dragon to follow him back to the city and his estate and there she stayed.
After a year and a half of clumsy flirting and winning the dragons favor Lovelock and the dragon Estrella had been expecting a daughter. Lovelock before his new wife was due was called away to another country in order to help migrate a few lost creatures to his city. During this time Estrella went into labor it lasted two whole days it was difficult and Estrella unfortunately died after delivering her baby girl. With her last few breaths she named the child and passed. Deadty only four at this time took his little sister and cared for her along with the house staff though Deadty didn’t leave her side afraid she too might pass as well. Dragon baby’s half blood or full blood needed consistent watch for they were weak and needed their mothers warmth. So without a mother Deadty took it upon himself to keep his small sister warm.
Deadty like his sister came out human looking but with a couple of extra extremities, Deadty came out with two fluffy tails and wolf ears later he learned how to control this and hid. He even learned how to change his form from his mother. This enabled him to go between wolf and human. His little sister Mitza came out with wings, a tail, some translucent scales and horns. Deadty when he first saw her thought she looked like a small porcelain doll. Her translucent rainbow scales gave her that glass look so of course he was worried. Deadty stood in his wolf form for most of the time carrying his sister on his back securely wrapped in a blanket and balance between both his tails.
After two months away Lovelock returned and heard of the news of his wife he was immediately devastated and frantic on whether the child survived. Before anyone had any say Deadty pranced in with his sister, a string tied to her arm as she flew around. Lovelock felt a wave of relief and well even still sad he knew not all of his wife had died she still left him a daughter and the scene was priceless to say the least.
Four years had passed and the trio of crusnik’s had all been living well. Lovelock would occasionally invite Dupree and his son’s. They would chat while the kids played. Unlike most vampires those who Lovelock made ‘the first families’ their children aged like normal up to a certain point and then became ageless this was also the same for Lovelock’s children.
A month after Mitza had turned four and two months after Deadty turned eight the estate was attacked. Lovelock is presumed to have been killed and both his children and their personal servants kidnapped. Dupree looked tirelessly for years in hopes to find the children, the last royalty and the heirs to the throne.
After the death of Lovelock and the loss of his heirs the vampire families all are split on what to do. Dupree’s house being the highest rank made the decision not to put anyone’s house into power and instead still believed the kids to be out there and to eventually return one day. Until then each house was to take care of different aspects of the city with Dupree watching over all as he thought Lovelock would have wanted.
Our story starts twenty one years later.
