That Night

It was late at night. I was at my neighbor’s house, hired to babysit their two little girls. One was named Graceland, and she was seven. And the other was named Kenzie. She was five.

Kenzie was a small child. She had short blond hair and was a great listener. When Graceland was fairly tall for her age and had long brown hair. She was very bad-mannered. She did whatever she pleased.

There was something strange going on; The house’s presence gave me an uneasy feeling. Even though I was watching the kids, I felt like something was watching me.

“BOOM!!!” I heard something crash. The vase in the kitchen had somehow collapsed onto the ground. That’s funny, I thought. I thought the girls were playing in the living room!

As I scan the floor for broken bits and pieces, Graceland approaches me. Her tiny voice quivered with worry. “He doesn’t want you here,” she whispered. I asked what she meant, but she had gone back to playing with her sister, fear still plastered on her face.

I began getting even more curious. Kenzi was acting just like normal I wondered if Gracelyn knew something no one else did. Was that why she acted badly before? The lights start to flicker I thought I saw someone in the hallway. The lights stopped flickering Graceland had a scratch mark on her face she said with a scared expression he’s mad at me.

Once again I asked who? She muttered to herself but I couldn’t comprehend what she was muttering. But Kenzi was laughing Graceland looked at me with a worried expression looked back at Kenzi and screamed “LEAVE HER ALONE”. I looked at Kenzi her eyes looked holo.

Kenzi started laughing like a psycho. The lights started flickering again the light bulb busted in the living room it was a supernatural spirit. He was really tall had black holo eyes whore a black suit and had a long terrifying smile. Graceland screamed it’s him, Mr. Smiley.

He took over Kenzi she was possessed. Kenzi grabbed a knife and started chasing us.

I took Graceland’s hand and ran to the bedroom. We locked the door she banged on the door screaming “Open the door I just want to see your smile”. As she was trying to stab us from underneath the door. There was salt, a cross, and a bible in there along with some candles and crystals it seemed like the mom was into supernatural stuff.

I then saw a note on the dresser

I'm very sorry to leave you here that evil spirit said it was an old friend. That was a lie I knew something like this could happen. The spirit kept on threatening to kill me and the kids if I didn’t leave. I tried to take them but he wouldn’t let me please save my kids. I'm sure you can I won’t mess with the spirits anymore if you live keep the kids. I’m sure they will like you better.

Graceland started balling her eyes out she cried mommy left us. I said hey I'm going to get us out of here don’t cry. I told her I need your help a circle of salt is a barrier so spirits can’t get us. Then I grabbed the cross and a bible I opened the door there she was.

Kenzi said in a terrifying voice "You think your smart don't you!" I open the bible and start reading verses from it while holding the cross. The spirit is weakening it also is going berserk trying to make it stop the lights flicker, dishes are flying, and doors are opening and shutting. Graceland throws salt at her. I give her the cross quickly grab the salt and make a circle of salt around her.

She continues to rampage and then falls to the ground. He was gone but not without hurting someone. Kenzi was bleeding on the ground I checked her pulse Graceland was still crying I said in a low tone "She's dead".

I go outside and put Graceland in the car. In a soft tone, I say I'm going to be your new mom you’re okay now. The trunk gets opened I grab a can of gasoline and a match. As I spread the gasoline around the house I got Graceland and let her throw the match it was her home after all. Then we get in the car and drive off while listening to music to try to calm down after what just happened.
