The Star-Bellied Pikachu

It wasn’t that long ago (though it’s deep seated origins expand to thousands of years ago) that the land of Kalos was on the verge of destruction. A team of scientists lead by a man named Lysandre sought to change the world for what they felt was the better. On their quest to bring about eternal beauty for all their followers, they quite nearly brought death and destruction to everyone instead. Lysandre and his team, at perhaps the final moment, met their defeat at the hands of a mere child and have since disbanded.

Not all the Team Flare scientists were found in the end. Many went into hiding in shame and fear. The police continued searching, trying to bring all the gang members to justice. There was one such scientist who remained uncaptured and was still running experiments on Pokémon…

There is a secret lab hidden somewhere in Kalos where, unknown to the police, at least for now, a teenage girl is working on such experiments. The walls of the room she is in are stacked almost ceiling high with cages. Within ever single cage is a small Pokémon, but most of them are Pikachus. Hurriedly, the teenager was measuring and mixing various colorful substances.

‘This time…this time for sure…’ she thinks to herself.

Carefully, with one finger, the girl pushes her glasses back up the bridge of her nose. It’s a wonder she can see what she is doing as it is so dark. All the curtains have been shuttered, not allowing anyone to see her inside. Above her head, a single dim light shone a small amount of light onto her work table.

Her long blonde hair flows down her back as she disregards the lab rule of tying your hair up. A tiny bit of bright red hair dye still clung to the tips of her hair and she seeks to cut that portion off later. Upon her body she bears a peculiar shirt with a single star printed on the center, but over top of it, she wears a lab coat. This long white lab coat has really deep pockets, perfect for smuggling serums and ingredients.

“Look, I know I messed up last time...” the girl says as she opens a cage. “…but I’ve done more research since. I’m sure I’ve got the right combination this time!”

Reaching into the cage, her fingers brush against something soft. Said soft creature whimpers a bit in fear. Quickly, she scoops up the Pokémon and pulls it out, revealing it to be a shiny female Pikachu. The Pikachu isn’t very happy about being grabbed, but the scientist smiles happily.

“Pika!” the Pikachu complains, struggling to escape from the scientist.

“Hold still, you brat! I’m only trying to help you!” the girl yells.

The angry Pikachu continues putting up a fuss for a bit. Then, realizing struggling is useless, she sits down on the lab table, crossing her arms stubbornly. The girl raises a vial of serum she just concocted and is about to administer it, but… A loud and fierce knock sounds on the door suddenly. Startled, the girl accidentally drops the serum and it splashes, soaking both her and the Pikachu. The knocking at the door only grows louder as the anxiety builds.

“This is the police! Open up!” a voice calls.

A flash of light occurs, filling the entire lab with a glow. The scientist screams, her voice becoming high pitched. THUD! She hits the floor roughly. Her head throbs, all her thoughts seeming to mix together like fruits in a blender. Confusion overwhelms her.

“Ouch... Ugh... What- what is this?” she asks.

It was, yet again, the wrong formula… As it turned out, the serum some how fused the scientist with her Pikachu. Now, she is a shiny Pikachu with a star printed on her belly. She stares in horror at her hands, a part of her realizing that she’s not supposed to have Pikachu paws.

“Not good!” she squeaks.

There’s no time to figure it out, the police are tired of waiting. KRRRRBOOM! The front door of the house gets broken down forcefully. Quickly, the Pikachu scientist leaps up and grabs some serum vials, stashing them in her now shrunken lab coat. The police begin their search of the front of the house, so the Pikachu pulls open the lab window and escapes.

Dashing as fast as she can on all fours, the scientist makes her getaway unseen by the police. Where would she run to? Where could she hide where nobody would know what she had done? It seems, in the moment, that everyone hates the girl.

“Help! Somebody!” the girl wailed.

As she continues her blind dash, the Pikachu ends up crashing right into a Furfrou. The Furfrou growls in annoyance. Cautiously, the Pikachu backs up a bit, not wanting to get into a fight with the Furfrou. It’s much too late to back down now, however.

“You hit me, you fight me!” the Furfrou barks.

“Wait a minute…I can understand what you are saying!” the Pikachu exclaims in shock. “Wait, of course I can…I’m a Pikachu…”

“You’re a strange little Pokémon… Now fight me!” the Furfrou barks.

“Noooooo! I don’t even know HOW to fight!” the Pikachu wails.

The Furfrou dives in for an attack since the Pikachu won’t strike first. The girl jumps aside at the last second, avoiding getting hurt. As it turns out, she is very quick and nimble as a Pikachu. The Furfrou gets annoyed, continuing to strike at the swift Pikachu.

“You may not know how to fight, but boy are you hard to catch!” the Furfrou growls.

“Y-yeah? Thanks,” the Pikachu says, starting to get tired. “Listen, I JUST need help getting out of here!”

“Where do you think you’re going to run to? Huh?” the Furfrou asks. “Interesting looking Pokémon like you are highly sought after by humans!”

“Y-yeah, I figured,” the Pikachu says. “I just need to get to Hoenn. It’s just across the sea from here!”

“Hoenn? Ahhhh, I see! I actually have a cousin in Hoenn,” the Furfrou says.

“Really?” the Pikachu asks.

“Yeah, I SUPPOSE I could get you there…” the Furfrou says with a smirk.

“W-what’s that face about? Oh no…oh heck!” the Pikachu wails.

“Heh heh heh… We’re about to go for the ride of your life…” the Furfrou says, drooling on the Pikachu.

Before the human-turned-Pikachu could escape, she was pinned down by the Furfrou. As if by instinct, the Pikachu raises her hands and wiggles her fingers. A flurry of leaves appear and strike the Furfrou. Startled, the Furfrou falls over backwards.

“Oh yeah… I forgot about THAT! Very helpful…” the Pikachu says, realizing she just used Metronome.

“HEY! THAT WAS NOT A PIKACHU MOVE! YOU CHEATER!” the Furfrou barks.

“Well, I’m pretty sure consuming me isn’t a Furfrou move!” the Pikachu argues, wiping the slobber off of her face.

The Furfrou recovers quickly using a berry. Then, it tackles the Pikachu. The Pikachu tumbles and lands awkwardly. If she wasn’t distracted thinking about her Metronome move, she could have dodged that attack easily.

“Hah! Pathetic!” the Furfrou barks.

“Ow…that hurt…” the Pikachu says. “My vials!”

Quickly, she checks and makes sure none of the vials burst. Luckily for her, they are still intact. She gets up and dusts herself off. The Furfrou then pins her again.

“Now, sit still and let ME get you to Hoenn!” the Furfrou barks.

The Furfrou licks the Pikachu, wagging its tail happily. She groans in annoyance. Then, the Furfrou swallows her up. Slowly, she slides into the dog Pokémon’s belly, and there she would remain for quite some time, unfortunately. Unknown to them, a more ominous figure is lurking nearby, observing the situation.

“Lovely. Not how I intended to travel, but then again, I didn’t intend on being a Pikachu,” the Pikachu says with a groan.

“You what?” the Furfrou asks, padding along through the fields of Kalos.

“Nothing,” the Pikachu says. “Just…hurry up! Okay? It’s sticky and hot and smelly, and it burns!”

“You’re lucky I’m not a Fire Type,” the Furfrou says with a scoff.

“Oh yeah?” the Pikachu asks.

“Yeah, I hear their internal temperatures are insane!” the Furfrou says. “Now, nobody will see you if I carry you this way. No humans will catch you. You understand?”

“Right, right,” the Pikachu says with a sigh. “I understand. I don’t like it, but I understand.”

“Next stop, Hoenn!” the Furfrou says, wagging its tail.

After some time, the Pikachu began to fall asleep. The tight warmth was like being wrapped up in a comforter…except, you know, wet and acidic… As the Furfrou walked, the belly gently swayed, rocking the Pikachu to sleep. Eventually, though, the Furfrou reaches the edge of the land and the vast Kalos sea stretches before it.

“Pikachu, are you sure you want to leave Kalos?” the Furfrou asks.

“Hmmm…?” the Pikachu asks, waking up. “WAIT A MINUTE?! WHY AM I INSIDE A STOMACH?!”

“Oh no… You forgot?” the Furfrou asks.

“AHHHHHH!!!!” the Pikachu screams.

“Well! We’re about to enter the ocean. This is your last chance to turn back!” the Furfrou says.

“Please let me out!” the Pikachu wails.

“Nope. Well, I guess I may as well cross the ocean, huh?” the Furfrou says with a snicker.

“I’m dying in here!” the Pikachu wails, wriggling.

“Three…two…one… GO!” the Furfrou says and leaps into the ocean.

The Furfrou begins doggy paddling across the sea. The sun shines off of the scruffy creature’s white fur, dazzling brilliantly. The white of the Furfrou surrounded by the sea is almost comparable to the famous whale, Moby Dick. It would be a long journey, but at least the police wouldn’t think to search Hoenn for an escaped ex-gang member…would they?
