"I don't want to carry on with the family business! I don't want to be a factor for the deaths of thousands of people!" "But honey, we are doing all this for the sake of our pack." I still don't get the reason why my parents are forcing me to take over their business in producing toxic chemicals. As I continue to argue with them, Lyall enters the room. " Dad, I told you. Lexis doesn't want to succeed you, unlike I." Then mom speaks up. "Lyall, you can't even cook for yourself, how will you run a business? And after all, Lexis is the oldest." As they continue to converse, I slip out of the room straight to the garden. I wish humans and werewolves were in good terms, my family wouldn't have to produce toxic chemicals to protect our pack and ourselves. As I roam about, I carefully examine the beautiful, blooming Peonies dancing along with the calm movements of the wind, and sniff their sweet, floral scent. I love the chipping of birds and the wind ruffling through my dark peach hair. After a while I hear the bell ringing and I go and check who's there. "Hey bestie!" I rush outside the house once again to go and open the giant main gate." Hey Alph." "Why the sad face?" "I can't find my prince charming." We both giggle at my dramatic comment. "I know what to do, my lady." Saying that, he bows and stretches out his hand and I slowly put mine in his and he drags me out of the gates. We walk past the bookshop and turn left to find ourselves in a narrow path conducting us to a rink. I gasp, I had seen many rinks on TV in my life but I had never imagined of being at one of them in real life. Since it was Saturday the rink wasn't busy, many people in my case wolves were home spending quality time with their families. "This is magnificent, but why are we here?" "We are coming to practice silly." I was silent for a while; I didn't even know how to skate on ice. I had taken roller skating lessons when I was a child, which is totally different from ice skating." I don't even know how to skate on ice." "But you know how to skate on roller skate, so it won't be difficult." "But-" I was dragged away before I could even finish my sentence. We bought two pairs of figure skates. As I made my way to the centre of the rink, I could feel my legs trembling from the fear in me of falling. I pushed myself with one of my legs to go faster but that was a big mistake. I was about to fall when someone grabbed me, I turned myself to see Alph holding unto my waist, our faces were 1 inch away from each other. I quickly pulled away. Thank you, I blurted out almost like a whisper. He replied with a welcome and thought me some basic moves. It was getting dark, and we had to run back home before we turned into werewolves. We took our skates and run as fast as we could before it got dark. When we arrived my house Alph, and I hugged each other goodnight and he ran off. The lights were off in the whole mansion, I quietly tiptoed to my room, got a shower in most silent way I could find and went to bed after praying.
The next day when I woke up, I brushed my teeth, got a cold shower, prayed and went downstairs, only to find my parents standing at the end of the staircase with a serious face. "Where were you young lady?" My mom asked, "You came exactly at 11:31pm yesterday." My dad added. I told them of how I went to the rink with Alph to have some fun skating. "You should be in your room brainstorming for ideas to keep the business running instead of going out to some cheap rink to practice something you will never become!" I was flabbergasted at his attitude. The man I had lived with for 16 years was standing in front of me yelling at me with an angry face I had never seen before. Then my mother comes in, "Darling, all your father is trying to say is that we were really worried for your safety." "I guess his words say otherwise." I snap. "I have been always criticized since Jax left this house...I now get the reason why he left." "Don't ever, talk about that bastard in this house again, he is gone, and I wish not to ever see him again!" My dad screams out. I run out of the house as my face turns red out of anger, I notice my nails turning into claws. I freeze, trying to calm myself down. I feel a couple of drops falling on my hand as my claws turn back into nails, I look up "It is raining." I see the sun disappearing behind a huge cloud. "I can't go back home, not after the huge fight." I decide to go to the only place I know I'll be safe. I run as fast as I can before the rain gets heavier, I feel cold as my dark peach hair gets soaked up with water. I knock on the gate with all my strength. "Lex, what are you doing here? Hurry come inside." Alph leads me into his hospitable living room. "Th- Thanks Alph." "You're always welcome in my mansion, what happened? I narrated everything to Alph all that happened at home, and I found myself crying on his shoulder. "What would I do without you bestie?" "Break into pieces." I chuckled, then my stomach made a growl. "I guess my majesty is starving." "Well yes, considering I didn't eat breakfast." He giggled and we went to the kitchen. We looked up for something online and found the perfect recipe for some spicy chicken shawarma tacos. "Hey, you got something here...gotcha!" "Hey Lex! You better run." As we laugh and run around in the kitchen, Alph slips on some flour, he grabs my hand to prevent himself from falling but unfortunately his weight pulls me down with him. My heart skips a beat as I stare into his deep blue eyes, feeling his hot breath on my neck, I abruptly get up and nervously stretch my hand to help him up. "I am sorry, did you get hurt?" "No don't worry I am fine." We focus back on our tacos...The tacos turned out to be great, we ate till we were full. I started feeling sleepy but didn't want to admit it, unfortunately I fell asleep without even knowing when, I felt two strong arms carrying me to one of the rooms and carefully tucking me in the bed...I knew it was Alph. Before leaving, he gave me a peck on my right cheek, I just smiled and went back to my dreams.
"Hurry we need to put everything in the car before anyone sees us." I woke up hearing some voices coming from the corridor, my eyes still blurry from the sleep. I took my smartphone to check the time; it was 2:27, the sun was yet to rise. I saw a baseball bat in one corner of the rooms, I took it and slipped out of the room. I could hear footsteps approaching, I turned a corner and then another then a hand covered my mouth. I was about to scream when I saw it was Alph, he took the baseball bat and signalled me to stay quiet. As he tiptoed to two male figures standing in the hall, he hit one of them with the bat while the other ran away. I couldn't stand there and just watch; I sprang into action. I saw the figure running outside and followed, as soon as one of the moon rays shone on my body I transformed into a werewolf and ran faster than before. Suddenly I felt an electric wave in me, and I could see my eyes emitting light onto a tree, then everything went blank. I woke up seeing Alph and my family members surrounding me. I looked around and realized I was in the wospital(wolf hospital). "My baby!" mom screamed with tears in her eyes. "Doctor, doctor!" My dad got out of the room to find the doctor. I couldn't get what was going on. Then the doctor came in. "Hi, Lexis. How are you feeling?" "I feel okay." "Okay well, you have Ipotichysis. It is a condition that only two wolves in the whole earth have. It occurs when you find your soulmate and you are considered to be old enough to control the powers that your eyes contain. You might as well be related to Queen Xandra the first, who passed away 90 years ago." "Woah..." I didn't know what to say. I am a princess in a small town but maybe I could be related to the founder of the werewolf legacy, the first werewolf to be existed and the same werewolf who fought for freedom, justice and a relationship between humans and werewolves. "No! That can't be possible." My father speaks up "She is our daughter and Queen Xandra is not related to us." There is tension in the room everyone is surprised yet silent. unlike my father who seems perfectly fine. Alph breaks the silence. "When will she be released?" "We ran a few tests, and she is good to go right now." "Thank you doctor" I mutter and exit the room. "Will you come home with us?" Lyall curiously asks. "Of course, she will." My father is unbelievable. After our fight he didn't even try to call me to apologise and now he expects me to come back home?" "No" I boldly say. "I will come back home next week Wednesday when we resume school. Until then I will stay with Alph, if he is okay with that." "Yeah sure, my parents have travelled so I have no problem. I am sure they would be happy to have Lex over." I hug my mom and Lyall and storm off leaving my dad with no words. We buy some food on the way and happily chat about all the new things that might happen when we resume school. "Finally, the school is giving students the permission to use the pool for the sports competitions this year!" I can see the word happy on Alph's face, as he goes on and on talking about the competition. "I am also excited for the ice-skating competitions I heard the ice master will be one of the judges!" I exclaim almost throwing my burger and French fries in the air. "I can see you're excited. How about we go to the rink tomorrow to have some fun, I wish to see your epic fall again. And this time you will not be saved." "ha-ha very funny..." I say in an annoyed tone and go back to eat my fries.
