Chapter 1
Author’s POV,
Love.
Such a great word and feeling in the world. In every world, love is the sensation, reason to live that keeps people sane in odd ways. At the same time, some people don’t understand its value until they earn it.
Here is our hero, who took everything for granted except his family and business. Matteo Vincent Lorenzo, true to his name, is a defender, a man of God, with extra arrogance and obstinacy. He is a well-known devil in business and God in the family.
The family was highly known throughout the country for their expanding and increasing empire. Great Grand Lorenzo established this empire on faith, which has now increased tenfold. Over the years, the family has left an indelible imprint on the hearts of the people.
Every year on the anniversary of great grand Lorenzo’s death, the family would help the destitute. Also, pay a visit to their orphanage and trusties. They have faith in their predecessors and their paths.
Matteo’s only desire was to rule the world with his overly smart ass until a girl entered his life. Aurelia Garcia is the embodiment of honesty unless it is not returned. The woman lost her parents when she was eight years old; if it hadn’t been for her father’s brother, she would have been homeless for a long time.
They died in a car accident while Aurelia’s mother is six months pregnant. They were anticipating their tiny baby to enter the world, but God stole their joy. Aurelia was in a coma for nearly six months as a result of the impact of the accident, and when she awoke, she was a freak.
It took almost a year for her uncle to settle Aurelia’s mental health. Her family is practically a sensitive point for her. Her father, like every other princess, used to be her super hero. Their death threw the girl into an ocean of sorrow.
Her uncle, Marco Garcia, is a man with a golden heart who is more than a father figure to Aurelia. Not to mention her aunty Lilyanna Garcia and their son Brian Garcia, who treated her as if she were a member of their own family. They never made her feel like an outsider.
In comparison to the Matteo’s, Aurelia’s family was relatively typical; they had all they needed to live a pleasant existence. They run their family restaurant, which is famed for Aurelia’s cuisine. Everyone admired her for the power she possessed in her hands, which aided their business.
Matteo was her childhood crush, which became stronger over time. She used to look up to him from afar at school, but she didn’t exist for Matteo. She is madly in love with him because of his devotion for his parents. She merely wanted to be a part of it
But her crush was shattered by their accident, which forced her to discontinue her studies. Her life has changed since her recovery, and it isn’t because of the money. Despite her parents’ riches in comparison to her uncles, she never felt uncomfortable or desired princess treatment.
Since then, her only focus has been on her education. She enjoys cooking, namely baking. This prompted her to pursue a career in catering, where she thrived. Their lives go on until one day Matteo’s parents arrive with a marriage proposal.
To say Aurelia was overjoyed would be an understatement; she was ecstatic. But she wanted it to happen with mutual consent, so when she approached Matteo about it, he agreed, stating, “I’ll never go against my parents.” Not to lie, it pained her, but she hoped that eventually he would develop feelings for her.
Their engagement was the buzz of the town, and it actually broke several ladies’ hearts. Matteo arrived on time and flew out to Spain for business once everything done. If it didn’t hurt Aurelia, it’d be a lie. Nonetheless, the young lady swallowed it for the sake of her new family.
Since her parents’ deaths, she has desired to marry into a large family, which she cannot have from the start. Getting them, on the other hand, would pay some thorns like these were acceptable to her. She is ready for anything till she gets her own family at the end of the day.
After a few months, their wedding was held on their private island, with only key guests permitted. Lorenzo’s family accepted her gleefully after their wedding. The woman eventually won everyone’s heart except the one she had to be. It’s not that she can’t win his heart; it’s just that he won’t let her.
They even consummated their wedding for sake which is beyond hurtful. Nonetheless, the woman remained calm, believing in her love. She had trust that one day her spouse would look at her, not for her name, but for love.
Their conversation could only go as far as ‘yes’ or ‘no’. If not for his parents’ health and nutrition, then for his business gatherings only when she is required. In his view, she works as his wife.
On the other hand, our hero saw Aurelia as a slight responsibility. He loves his family, to be sure, but he hasn’t counted Aurelia as one of them. To be honest, he saw her as his personal servant, a bed warmer in the name of his wife.
