Chapter 1

Ariadne POV

After an hour or so we were in front of the huge mansion which I suppose was to be our new home. It wasn't that bad, I mean it was okay, it was nice.

We got out of the taxi and my mom helped with the luggage. I stood by the door thinking of the past events of the last four days of my life and how it had changed so suddenly.

It all started when my mom came home four days ago and told me that we had to move to another country due to some unavoidable circumstances. I couldn't really get her to tell me what exactly the reasons were, but I also couldn't force it out of her because I knew she always has good reasons for her decisions.

It was kinda unfair to me because I didn't get the chance to say goodbye to my friends. We had three days to process all the necessary documents, a day to park up everything I would need and today here I am, in front of the 'new home'.

I knew it was not gonna be easy to adjust and adapt to the new environment. New home, new neighbors, new school and most importantly, new classmates. But I had to bear with it after all, I mean what choice did I have. None of course or...maybe I could just run away. Just kidding. I'm not leaving my mom for nobody.

"Are you okay, Hun?" I was brought back from my trance by my mom's soft voice.

"Yes, mamá, " I answered plainly, not really sure if I was.

"Okay, let's go in, "she stated.

We got into the mansion and believe me when I say it was huge. So spacious, cool and beautiful with the right color blend of navy blue and grey.

My mom showed me my would-be room and I went in to unpack and freshen up. The room was perfect. It's like it was specifically designed for me. Most of the deco was in my favorite color though in different shades but they all blended so perfectly. I walked into the closet to arrange my clothes and later stopped by the bathroom to get a nice shower. It was a long satisfying one.

I was seated on my bed drying my hair when my mom came in, her sweet smile never leaving her face. That smile that always assured me that everything was okay.

"Hey, hun. Is everything okay? Is there anything you don't like? We can always change it you know. Just... "

"Mamá? I'm fine, don't worry, okay? Everything is great. I just need a little nap and I'll be good. So don't stress it," I managed to convince her.

"If you say so. By the way, hun, I'm going out to sort out some issues, I'll be back in the evening. You can make something from the kitchen when you feel hungry, okay?"

I wasn't even surprised that we just arrived, and she was already going out. She used to do it a lot that I got used to it. At times I could even go a whole week without seeing her. But deep down I knew she loved me most. She was the only family I had since papá left.

I just nodded and she gave my forehead a soft kiss before exiting the room. I was left there staring at the door not knowing what to do next. After some time, I decided on a light snack to pass time till she was home.

I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge to see if there was anything edible and surprisingly it was loaded, so I settled on a vanilla chocolate ice cream. I went to the living room, switched on the TV and decided on an animation.

After some time, I felt really hungry, like have I had anything since morning. I checked my phone to see that it was already 7.40pm. How long have I been here for?

That aside, dinner time. I was gonna make spaghetti and chicken breasts but just enough for me only since I was pretty sure my mom wouldn't be joining. She rarely did anyway. I enjoyed my dinner. Alone. Then retired to my room and called it a day.

I woke up from loud chatting and laughing probably from downstairs, but who, because I was expecting my mom only and I doubt she had any friends to invite over considering the fact that we just got here yesterday.

I guess I'll have to find out myself. Dragged myself out of bed and went down the stairs following the direction from which the noise was coming from and stopped by the kitchen.

Can't really conclude it to be a surprise or a shock cause the scene here was super unexpected especially from my mom.

There was this tall guy in black T-shirt and grey sweatpants with tattoos covering their right arm from the wrist up to their neck, though I couldn't see the part that was covered by the T-shirt. He was standing between my mom's legs, who was sitting on the kitchen island, holding her waist.

Well, this isn't what someone would like to wake up to in a new home but what can I say? I was too stunned to speak. I couldn't even gather my thoughts let alone the words to speak. I stood there staring like an idiot not even blinking.

"Oh, morning, Hun?" my mom finally broke it.

"Morning, mamá. Sorry to interrupt. I'll be in my room. "

I turned to the guy who was now looking at me and before he had the chance to say anything, I left the kitchen and ran up to my room.

"Damn, that was embarrassing, "I said to myself, covering my face with my hands when I reached my room.

I had to stay in my room now, until he leaves because I just couldn't face him again, at least not today.

I kept wondering how long my mom has known this guy for, enough to bring him home.

Well, let's see how it goes.
