Blink Blink
Blink blink.
Unstoppable, I blink.
Two times
Three times
Four times.
Like the continuous ticking of a clock
I cannot stop.
My fingers clench and unclench
Though I do not know why.
I am not angry or upset
I am fine.
I am calm.

There are some things Charyang wished for: One is her tics. She hated them so much, the way the tics made her face contort and her eyes blink rapidly. She wished for them to stop. She wished for that boy in her math class to stop staring at her. She wished she wasn't American-born so that she wouldn't feel Tibetan enough and American enough. She wished she could do sleepovers. She wished she could have a cat. She wished her life could go the way she wanted it to go. This humorous, and heartfelt novel tells the story of a Tibetan American-born girl named Chartso who struggles to balance being too Tibetan and not enough Tibetan, and too American and not enough American.
