Prologue Ivette had always loved horse racing. Ever since she was a little girl, she would watch the races on TV with her father, who was a wealthy businessman and a horse owner. She admired the grace and speed of the horses, and the skill and courage of the racers. She dreamed of becoming a racer herself, but her father forbade her from pursuing such a dangerous and unladylike career. He wanted her to marry a rich and respectable man, and live a life of luxury and comfort. But Ivette was not interested in any of the men her father introduced to her. She found them boring and shallow, only caring about money and status. She wanted someone who could make her feel alive and adventurous, someone who could match her passion and spirit. Damon had always hated horse racing. Ever since he was a little boy, he would watch his father abuse and neglect his horses, only caring about winning and money. He hated the cruelty and corruption that plagued the sport, and the greed and arrogance of the owners and racers. He wanted to escape from his father’s shadow, and live a life of freedom and justice. But Damon had no choice but to become a racer himself. He needed the money to support his mother and sister, who were sick and poor. He also wanted to expose his father’s crimes, and bring him to justice. He wanted to change the sport for the better, and make it more fair and humane. They were drawn to each other, but also pushed away by their differences. They had a turbulent relationship, full of passion and drama. They faced many obstacles and challenges, both from themselves and from others. They hurt each other, but also healed each other. They were Ivette and Damon, and this is their story.
