"I absolutely loved this book. The film noir feel to it at the start with the run down grimy office and the glamorous Mayor's wife is pure poetry. The entire book is a salute to 1940/50's private detective movies, with a touch of sci fi for added storylines. A truly fun read. "

"A pretty typical private eye plot that doesn't take itself too seriously, I enjoyed the sense of humour and silliness the author managed to infuse into the story. Despite a few grammatical issues I think he did a fantastic job, well done! "

"Good old fashion detective-noir with a twist. Blackthorne left me conflicted as he shows himself to be a cruel antihero who can't cope with his past. Still, I read it in one sitting. An uncomplicated and easy read. I definitely want more of the same as the author paints a picture with fluid writing and dry quirky humour in the narrative. The story stays energized, not stopping for a moment to take a break. A fresh yet nostalgic feel to his writing Wicus Klinkert offers a much needed escape from the 'issues' of the day. Just like good fiction in this genre should do. Recommended. Read it!"
