Part 1

It was music class time, and through the school hallways, the piano version of Pachelbel’s Canon could be heard. A melody that could be quite challenging to play if one wasn’t paying attention to what they were doing. That’s what Eliza was trying to do while her classmates paid attention to her performance.

Her delicate hands were on the keyboard, but her mind was on the rugby practice taking place on the school field. There, playing, was none other than Ivan, the most attractive and popular guy in school. Tall, six feet, athletic, with brown hair and blue eyes, the typical handsome guy from cool magazine ads. Also, the typical rich kid who dates blonde, pretty, and wealthy girls just like him. Completely opposite to Eliza, a music, video games, and study books geek, not to mention she has blue hair, huge glasses, and wears dark, baggy, and unremarkable clothes. The complete anti heroine.

She didn’t possess an enviable figure, and she definitely didn’t make it into the school’s gymnastics team, which, like the rugby team, only consisted of the most popular and beautiful students. The school also had a choir and an orchestra, with the latter being the least popular; no one cared about the “geeks” who played the piano, flute, violin, or trombone. Nonetheless, Eliza was proud of her piano skills and aspired to compete in the annual intercollegiate competition.

Ivan, the popular rugby player, was the object of her desire. He completely ignored her; every time Eliza passed by him, she was mesmerized by his presence, but he never even noticed her in school. He was always surrounded by his group of friends and never even turned around to look at her.

But Eliza didn’t care; just sharing physical space with her crush was more than enough for this teenager who held the boy in the highest regard.

On the other hand, Eliza had her best friend, Mirko, who had been with her since kindergarten. He was another geek like her and went completely unnoticed in school. An investigation enthusiast, he was part of the school newspaper, being a rather prominent journalist within it due to his passion for what he did and being an excellent photographer.

Mirko, just like Eliza, also had his crush within the school: none other than Sarah, the star gymnast of their educational institute. A beautiful girl, tall, slim, with green eyes and an angelical face, long, wavy brown hair, and a refined and polite demeanor, although she was also quite vain. All the guys in school desired her, just like Mirko did.

Unlike Eliza, who had no connection with her crush, Mirko got along very well with Sarah because he always covered the gymnastic competitions, taking the best photos and highlighting her in the school newspaper and on social media. It was something that always fed the girl’s ego, and she adored him for it.

Whenever they crossed paths in the hallways, she greeted him with her best smile, which for Mirko was like touching the sky. Sometimes, this even sparked envy from Eliza when they were together.

― If it weren’t for you always taking her best pictures and spending hours editing them to make her look beautiful on social media, she wouldn’t even give you the time of day. You’re her personal photographer― Eliza would often taunt her friend when Sarah greeted him.

― At least she acknowledges me... what about you, how are things? ― Her friend would reply every time she attacked him.

Obsidian: He's hilarious. Like, actually. I loved it. You're writing style is great, although you could do with a few less murmurs and mutters.
