Chapter 1:Ethan Sarbin

It was October 5th. A normal day in New York. Ethan Sarbin had just moved there in September. He and his parents lived on the third floor of an apartment building in Manhattan. Ethan turned off his alarm clock and crawled out of bed. "First day of school. again." Ethan groaned. This was the fifth time he changed schools this year and he hated it. He had no friends because he never stayed long enough to make any. He put on some clothes and got ready for school. "I wonder how long I'll be at this one...that school in L.A. is in the lead with 3 months. Wisconsin following behind.." Ethan said sarcastically as he walked into the living room of the apartment. "Ethan. it's going to be different this time. we're staying in New York. you'll make friends. stop being so pessimistic..." Ethan's mother reassured him. Ethan scoffed, "No. I probably won't. we'll move again. and again. and again." Ethan's mother gave him a look that said, 'you probably shouldn't take my word for it. but you know that you should try to be optimistic'. Ethan just walks out the door and out of the building, completely ignoring the world around him as he makes his way to school.
