New in London
Ava arrives at The Shard in London and pulls into the parking garage. She takes the elevator almost to the top of the building, where the NuxDov Solutions offices are. NuxDov Solutions, an I.T. company, recruited her as a Senior Support Manager straight from South Africa, which meant she had to move to England. She just had to get away from Cape Town. Ava is convinced that it was the best decision she has ever made. Cape Town just became too much for her, with her entire family living there, and who won’t leave her alone about finding a husband. London is the perfect place for a new start and for her to find herself again.
She goes to her office, with her half-empty coffee mug in hand, and takes a deep breath before starting the crazy day ahead of her.
“Ava! You won’t believe who was in the elevator with me on my way to the office!” Ava turns around in her chair to look at Donna. Donna Keiths is her colleague, who is a part of the Legal team at NuxDov, an adventurous, short redheaded woman with golden brown eyes. Although Ava and Donna haven’t known each other for longer than a month, they became instant best friends in the short time she’s been with NuxDov Solutions.
“Let me guess, Brad Smith?” Ava gives a sly smile to Donna, already knowing the answer.
“Yes! Holy shit! He looks absolutely mouthwatering today!” Donna smiles from ear to ear.
“And what did you talk about?” Ava asks while she gets up from her chair to go make coffee with Donna.
“We spoke about the financial year-end and what will need to be changed within our clients’ maintenance contracts for the year ahead”.
“Wow, what a VERY interesting conversation,” Ava says sarcastically while she nudges Donna with her elbow.
“Yes, I know, but at least we spoke.” She said, rolling her eyes at Ava.
Donna has never spoken to Brad before, because she is always too shy, even though Ava tries to encourage her to speak to him, Donna always has an excuse not to.
“I’m happy for you. Next time, grab him by the waist and kiss him.” Ava teases her.
“Ha-ha very funny! But I won’t mind kissing him – have you ever noticed his lips? It looks so soft…. And kissable.” Donna daydreams while Ava just laughs.
Ava and Donna walk towards Ava’s office while Donna goes on and on about how Brad always dresses.
Ava starts with her daily reports while sipping on her coffee. The day flies by, and by the end of the day, she feels absolutely exhausted.
She hears a knock on her door and sees an excited Donna with a huge smile on her face, “Guess what we’re doing tonight…. Karaoke!!!!” Ava HATES Karaoke…
