Chapter 1

Dregon is the brother to King Auberon Titus the 4th. Auberon is King of Val-Roch and has just learned the ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Melohs, King Zion Airathian has had a daughter. In an attempt to broker trade agreements King Auberon has promised his little brother, Dregon a boy of only 16 years to Zion’s daughter. Dregon doesn’t want to be married off to some child he does not know nor does he want to get to know her. Thus, he begs his brother to send him away to war, promising upon his return he’ll fulfill his duties and uphold his brothers promise of betrothal Auberon reluctantly agrees and sends him away with the blessing of Zion. Many years pass and many war’s are won because of Dregon but with his infamy comes tales of his ruthlessness. He becomes painted as a heartless monster who cares for nothing but blood and victory, his own men fear him and army’s tremble at the mere mention of his name. Over time, the wars are all won and peace falls over all the lands but, Dregon doesn’t return. Fearing the worst, Auberon searches far and wide for his beloved brother but to no avail. After 18 years of waiting diligently, King Zion can wait no longer, he must find his daughter a new suitor before she becomes to old to be properly considered a suitable bride. Believing Dregon to be dead King Airathian arranges for his daughter to marry the Prince of the Western Lands, Prince Mercer Kalron, son of King Atticus Kalron and Queen Lebaya Kalron. A golden child for a golden kingdom, tales were told far and wide of the young prince’s affinity for being gracious and honorable Not a bad word could be heard when it came to the topic of Prince Kalron, it seemed, to everyone that the sun not only rose but also set upon his crown. However, even fools gold glitters and shines. Something is not quite right here and the young Princess Airathian can feel it deep within her soul, but there’s something else there too a sort of uneasiness, like a bird caught in a cage for many years who has finally worn down the bars just enough to attempt escape. As the date for her wedding approaches she is distraught with the overbearing feeling that something is about to happen, something huge. There’s a storm on the horizon she just doesn’t know when or where the lightning will strike.
