Chapter 1
Here ye, here ye!
Gather round, for today’s lesson is sure to be a doozy!
Little boys and girls, listen well or
my words may get lost at sea.
My first night aboard ship, my strings were pulled to and fro.
Mistakes and choices? Wrong or right? Not as natural as the waves flow.
One hard yank from my puppeteer, another tug at my feet.
Other puppets knew the answer, how come they are able to cheat?
My sky was pitch black, not a single star to lead my way.
My strings tangled up, racing to catch up. Do I not have the final say?
From mopping the deck, to my sea-sturdy legs and making conversation flow.
To maintaining friendships, loving myself, and to letting people go.
Before that one night at sea, I was lost as one could be,
trying to handle my own failure.
My puppeteer gave up, I was nothing, if not stuck.
A terribly lonely and lost sailor.
As I wandered the sea, memories came back to me
Trying to remember what was once forgotten.
A broken puppet on its own two feet,
an endless tale, a story not so uncommon.
