Chapter 1: Sorrows Of Ember
"Grandmother.. I heard about a story of a young girl who became a general!" says the kid with brown hair.
"Really dear? Are you certain of that?" The old woman asked her granddaughter back as the little girl giggled.
"Very well. It is indeed true. That young girl used to be my student. However.." The old woman spoke.
"Your student? Grandma, how did you even meet her?" The little girl asked with curiosity in her eyes and expression.
"Back then, dear.. She was very kindhearted and soft..
But,
"This world is so broken. So much more prejudice and countless conflicts. "
"She tried to reflect on the stars. She was that fallen star who came from above. Long, long, she waited.. The land and the reflecting waters are deteriorating."
She once told me, "I am not what they think. Sadly, things must come to pass. That one thing that led to the end of my happiness marks as one of the shifting times in my own chapter. Do stars shine bright and if I don't? Yes, I am sure that it doesn't shine back to me."
"Higher, she will be the queen of the skies. She's too fast and too high. An eye on eye, more than those of others, A born lethal weapon, everyone will fear her name, her name of retribution and merciless lead. Higher, she will rise and the world will learn her name..
Lorelei..
Date: May 1
In the dimly lit room of Lorelei's small, cluttered apartment, a heavy silence hung in the air. The walls, adorned with sketches and paintings, bore witness to a young woman's dreams. Lorelei Amadeo, her fiery eyes filled with determination, stood before a letter clutched in her trembling hand.
The envelope had arrived in the mail that morning, and she had feared its contents ever since. It was an envelope from the prestigious Academy of Arts and Sciences, the institution that had been her dream for as long as she could remember. As she tore it open, her hopes were replaced by despair.
"I regret to inform you," the letter began, "that your application for admission to the academy has been denied."
Lorelei's heart sank, and the weight of the words settled in her chest. Rejected. A word she had heard all too often throughout her life, a word that seemed to define her existence.
The academy was the gateway to a world she had longed to be a part of. To her, it was a place where she could escape the pain of her past, where her intelligence and talents could shine, and where she could prove that she was not the "dumb" and "stupid" girl her classmates had always taunted her to be.
But now, that dream had been crushed, just like every other hope that had dared to sprout in her heart. The rejection felt like a relentless echo of the past, a reminder of the countless times she had been told she wasn't good enough.
Lorelei crumpled the letter in her hand, tears welling in her eyes. She wasn't going to let this rejection define her. It was a turning point in her life, the moment she resolved to prove the world wrong.
With newfound determination, she wiped away her tears, her gaze fixated on the sketches and paintings that adorned her walls. They were more than just art; they were a testament to her talent and her defiance against a world that had rejected her.
As Lorelei stood there, her heart aflame with resolve, she made a silent vow: if the world turned against her, she would turn against it. The rejection would be the catalyst for her transformation, a transformation that would lead her down a path that none could have foreseen.
She spent the following days immersed in her art, channeling her frustration, anger, and despair into her creations. She poured her soul into every brushstroke, every stroke of charcoal, and every drop of ink. Her apartment became a sanctuary, a place where she could escape the judgmental gazes of the world and create a world of her own.
Word of her rejection from the academy spread through the small town she called home. Gossips whispered in hushed tones, some with pity and others with a sense of superiority. The rejection of one of their own was a source of amusement and intrigue.
Among those who revealed her downfall was Keith, a former classmate and supposed friend. He used to be very helpful. But now, he had always been quick to mock her intelligence, a wound that cut deep now. He should have understood her choice. As the news reached him, a smirk curled on his lips. After she left their art group because of fear that their group would be her downfall in academics.
"What did I tell you, Lorelei?" he said with a condescending tone. "You were always dreaming too big. You were never academy material."
Lorelei's eyes bore into him, her anger simmering just below the surface. "You don't understand, Keith. This was my chance to prove everyone wrong. So please.. be considerate of my choice."
Keith's anger stung like a whip, and he walked away, leaving Lorelei to wrestle with her emotions. The rejection, and Keith's cruel words, only fueled her determination to succeed, to rise above her circumstances.
"You're selfish enough to leave us. We were supposed to be friends! Why did you decide to be so brash?! You could have taken me in a group! Instead, you didn't tell me and proceeded on your own like that!" The rage on Keith's lip was there. Lorelei's face shadowed.
Keith called her "selfish." Maybe her decision was selfish for him, but for her it would be at risk to stay longer.. Keith's friends judged her so badly, because she was a "numbskull."
She would rather be alone than be called a selfish, numbskull.
In the weeks that followed, Lorelei threw herself into her art with an unwavering passion. She created masterpieces that told stories of pain, rejection, and the burning desire for vindication.
One evening, as Lorelei sat alone in her apartment, an unexpected visitor knocked at her door. It was Anton, a renowned artist. .
"I've heard about your work," he said with a warm smile. "You have a raw talent, Lorelei, and I believe you should be at the academy."
Lorelei was taken aback by the offer. It was an opportunity she had not expected, and it filled her with a mixture of hope and trepidation.
But as she looked at the kind, encouraging eyes of the professor, she realized that this could be her chance to prove not only to the world but to herself that she was more than the girl who had been rejected.
The days that followed were a whirlwind of excitement and trepidation. Lorelei's journey from a rejected dreamer to a rising artist
It was marked by hours of intensive training and the guidance of her mentor, Anton.
She moved into a small studio at the academy, leaving behind her cluttered apartment. The academy became her new sanctuary, a place where she could hone her skills and immerse herself in the world of art. She was no longer the rejected girl but a promising artist on the brink of success.
Despite her newfound success, Lorelei's journey was not without its challenges. The competitive atmosphere of the academy tested her mettle, and there were moments of self-doubt. But each setback only fueled her determination to succeed.
Her talent began to garner recognition in the art world. Critics praised her work, and her paintings were sought after by collectors. It seemed as if she had finally overcome the rejection that had once defined her.
But as her career flourished, Lorelei couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. The scars of her past rejection still haunted her, and she longed to prove herself on a larger stage. The academy was no longer enough; she wanted to make her mark on the world.
One fateful day, as she stood before a canvas, brush in hand, inspiration struck. She envisioned a grand mural, a masterpiece that would be her magnum opus. It would be a statement to the world, a testament to her talent and a declaration of her defiance against the rejection that had once held her back.
Lorelei presented her idea to Anton, her mentor and confidant. He recognized the fire in her eyes and the passion in her voice. He knew that this mural would be her defining work, a culmination of her journey from rejection to triumph.
The project was ambitious, a towering mural that would grace the walls of a prestigious museum in the heart of the city. It was a commission that would propel her into the international art scene, a chance to prove her worth to the world.
The creation of the mural was a labor of love and determination. Lorelei poured her heart and soul into every stroke of the brush, every color she mixed, and every detail she meticulously rendered. The mural told a story of her journey, a narrative of rejection, resilience, and the unwavering pursuit of her dreams.
As the mural took shape, it garnered attention from art enthusiasts, critics, and the media. Lorelei's name was on everyone's lips, and her talent was celebrated as a triumph over adversity. She had become a symbol of what could be achieved when one refused to be defined by rejection.
The day of the mural's unveiling arrived, and Lorelei stood before the towering masterpiece. The eyes of the world were upon her, and she felt a profound sense of accomplishment. The rejection from the academy had been the catalyst for her transformation, and the mural was the culmination of her journey.
But as she looked out at the small crowd, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. The world had celebrated her talent and resilience, but she couldn't forget the rejection, the pain, and the voices of those who had doubted her.
And then, as the mural was revealed in all its glory, Lorelei realized the truth. The world might have celebrated her talent, but it had never truly understood her. The rejection had left scars that ran deeper than anyone could see, and she was no longer content with being a celebrated artist because the people only loved her when she was now known.
It wasn't too long until an accident happened..
One sunny afternoon, Lorelei decided to take a break from her house and the bustling art scene. She needed to clear her mind and reconnect with the world beyond the canvas. She ventured to the countryside, where the rolling hills and lush landscapes provided a soothing backdrop for her thoughts.
Little did she know that this peaceful excursion would lead her to a moment of reckoning.
As she wandered along a trail that led to a picturesque cliff overlooking a serene valley, she noticed a group of people up ahead. It was a familiar group, her former classmates from the small town she had left behind. They had always been quick to judge and had never understood the depth of her talent.
Upon seeing her, they exchanged glances and whispered amongst themselves. Envy and prejudice filled the air. To them, Lorelei's success was nothing more than luck, a stroke of fortune that had landed her in the spotlight. They couldn't fathom the years of hard work and determination that had propelled her to where she stood.
Lorelei approached the group, trying to maintain her composure. "It's been a while," she said, her voice carrying a hint of weariness.
One of her former classmates, a young man named Edeena, sneered, "Lorelei, the lucky one. You think you're better than all of us now, don't you?"
Lorelei's gaze hardened. "I don't think I'm better, but I've worked hard to get where I am."
The hostility in their eyes intensified, and it was clear that they had no intention of letting her enjoy her moment of respite. Edeena, emboldened by her peers, took a step closer to Lorelei.
"Worked hard, huh? We heard you got lucky with that mural of yours. Right place, right time, they say."
Lorelei's temper flared, but she fought to keep it in check. She had dealt with their prejudice for too long to let it unravel her now. "You have no idea what it took to create that mural. It was more than luck. It was a culmination of years of dedication and overcoming rejection."
Edeena's taunting smile only grew. "Rejection? Oh, Lorelei, you always were a dreamer. Rejection hasn't made an artist famous before."
As the tension escalated, Lorelei made a decision to walk away. She knew that engaging with her prejudiced classmates wouldn't lead to anything positive. She turned her back to them, but that's when Edeena, unable to let her leave in peace, took a step too far.
In a sudden, reckless act, Edeena shoved Lorelei from behind, sending her stumbling toward the edge of the cliff. Panic washed over her as she teetered on the brink of a steep drop.
For a moment, time seemed to stand still as Lorelei's heart raced. The world had turned against her once again, and she found herself at the mercy of those who could never understand the depth of her journey. She clawed at the edge of the cliff, desperately trying to regain her balance.
As Enzo and Mary Ann watched in shock, realization dawned on them. Their prejudice and cruelty had led to a perilous situation, and they rushed to her aid. But it was too late. She fell on the river. Edeena, in particular, was overcome with guilt and regret, her taunts now being there.
Lorelei, though shaken. She had fallen in the river, but it wasn't that easy for her. The incident left a mark on her soul. It was a stark reminder of the prejudice and cruelty she had faced, even in the midst of her success. It strengthened her resolve, and she knew that if the world turned against her, she would turn against it. The rejection and prejudice would fuel her journey forward, propelling her to even greater heights.
When she managed to make it on the shore, she silently cried in pain as she grabbed a load of dirt on the ground. She banged her hands on the ground in anger and remorse.
This forever made her change truly.
The path to her dreams had been paved with rejection, and now, Lorelei was determined to make the world understand the weight of her journey. She had risen from the ashes of rejection, and now she would prove that if the world turned against her, she would turn against it.
As the town celebrated her triumph over the past weeks, Lorelei made a silent vow: she would make the world understand the depth of her pain, the weight of her journey, and the fire of her determination.
Her disappearance within that day in the town was very disturbing. It was very disturbing. It remained unsolved after several expedition groups tried to locate her. Unfortunately, they only found a broken pendant that belonged to her on the shores of the Rhine river. That was when the expedition group declared her dead.
Unbeknownst to them, Lorelei watched them leave as her face shadowed. She ran far away until later that night, she collapsed because of exhaustion. That was when someone managed to notice her from afar.

Flashback: Back Before The Rise..
The First Day of Training
Lorelei had entered the military, determined to prove herself in a world dominated by those cruel people. On her first day of training, she found herself among a group of new recruits, most of whom regarded her with skepticism. They were all clad in uniform, and the atmosphere was one of anticipation and uncertainty.
As the drill sergeant barked orders and the recruits began their physical training, Lorelei stood shoulder to shoulder with her comrades. She was determined to keep up, to prove that she was as capable as anyone in the ranks. Her training was grueling, but she faced it with unwavering determination.
Despite the initial doubts of her peers, Lorelei quickly gained their respect. She showed an exceptional aptitude for marksmanship and strategy, and her discipline was unmatched. Over time, her fellow recruits came to see her not as a woman in a cruel world, but as a soldier who had earned her place through sheer determination and skill.
Lorelei's journey in the military was not without its challenges. She had to overcome the doubts and prejudices of some of her superiors. One of the toughest challenges she faced was a drill instructor known for being particularly demanding.
During an intense training exercise, Lorelei's unit was put through their paces. The drill instructor, a grizzled veteran with a reputation for being unrelenting, pushed them to their limits. Lorelei was not exempt from the grueling demands of the exercise.
As the hours passed and exhaustion set in, some of her fellow soldiers began to falter. But Lorelei remained resolute. She knew that her determination was her greatest asset, and she was not about to let anyone, even a tough drill instructor, break her spirit.
In a defining moment, the drill instructor singled Lorelei out for additional challenges, perhaps testing her resolve. She faced each challenge with unwavering determination, proving that she was a soldier who would not back down. By the end of the exercise, the drill instructor's skepticism had transformed into a begrudging respect.
"The world is cruel. They hated me for it."
Lorelei's adaptation to the military and her determination to excel in a challenging and often male-dominated environment. Her unwavering resolve and dedication to her training allowed her to earn the respect of her peers and superiors, setting the stage for her eventual rise to become a general. A general with love for her passion but has no love for her own people.
"My resentment fuels my determination."
4 years later..
Date: October 5
Lorelei had come a long way from her first day in the military, when she was a recruit determined to prove herself. She had weathered grueling training, earned the respect of her peers, and risen through the ranks. Her journey had been marked by unwavering determination and a commitment to excellence. It was a journey that had now brought her to the precipice of her greatest achievement – becoming a general. She had made her choice to abandon her dream.. because no one could understand her.
The day was clear and bright, with the sun casting a warm glow on the parade ground. Military brass, congress members, and distinguished guests had gathered for the ceremony that would mark Lorelei's promotion to the rank of general. She stood before the assembly in her crisply pressed uniform, her cape swirling around, her gaze steady, and her posture erect.
General Willhelm, a seasoned and highly respected figure, stepped forward to speak. He had been Lorelei's mentor and had watched her remarkable journey through the military with a mix of pride and admiration. He spoke of her unwavering commitment, her strategic brilliance, and her resilience in the face of adversity. He emphasized that this promotion was a recognition of her merits and her unwavering determination.
As the crowd applauded, Lorelei was pinned with the insignia of a general, a moment that marked the pinnacle of her military career. She stood tall, her face remains no emotion. She had overcome rejection and prejudice, proving her worth time and time again.
In the days that followed, Lorelei embraced her new role with a fierce determination. She was no longer the recruit who had entered the military and politics. She was now responsible for leading soldiers, making critical decisions, and ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
Her transformation was complete. She had risen above the challenges of her past, becoming a general known for her strategic brilliance and her ability to lead with authority. She had shown that unwavering determination, resilience, and a commitment to excellence could lead to the highest ranks of the military.
Present Time:
Date: December 7
As General Lorelei had risen through the ranks, her transformation had been marked not only by her unwavering determination but also by her increasingly cold and emotionless demeanor. She had become known as the general with a heart encased in ice, a leader who approached her duties with a stoic and unyielding resolve.
In the dimly lit war room, her staff gathered, awaiting her instructions. Lorelei entered with her characteristic poise, her expression unreadable. The room fell into silence as she studied the strategic map, her fingers tracing the deployment of forces. She cartographed the map yesterday for them to use. Her skills in art had use on her current duty now as a general.
Her second-in-command, Colonel Helena, had known Lorelei for years. She had witnessed her remarkable journey, from a recruit determined to prove herself to the highly decorated general she had become. But she had also seen the change in her, the hardening of her once warm and approachable demeanor.
"General, the situation on the eastern front remains tense," Colonel Helena reported, her voice measured. "Our forces are holding their positions, but we're facing increased resistance from the enemy."
Lorelei nodded, her gaze fixed on the map. Her cold voice seeps the room. "Continue to monitor the situation. I want daily updates on enemy movements."
The atmosphere in the room was one of tense anticipation. Lorelei had earned her reputation as a strategic genius, but she was also known for her emotionless and calculating approach. She approached each decision with a sense of detachment that some found unnerving.
Her staff had grown accustomed to her stoic demeanor. They knew that beneath the exterior of the cold and emotionless general was a leader who was unwavering in her commitment to the safety and security of the nation. Her transformation had been marked by a fierce determination to excel in a broken world.
As the meeting continued, Lorelei's instructions were clear and concise. She had no patience for sentiment or indecision. Her focus was solely on the strategic objectives and the safety of her troops.
In the days that followed, her staff carried out her orders with precision. They had come to respect her unwavering commitment and her ability to make tough decisions without hesitation.
"I pay no failures." Lorelei's cold and emotionless tone was there and gazed at the other members. "I don't tolerate such failure acts and betrayals against my will. If I ever heard one of you doing it against my back, I'll make sure you regret living in this world. Do you understand?"
The other members looked wary and fear inside their conscience.
"If the world turned against me, I would turn against itself."
