Forsaken

As a storm was brewing in the Skylar Sea, the people of Skylar Islands decided to settle in for a night's sleep. Little did they know that their lives would be changed at dawn. Unbeknownst a mother was putting her child to bed.

"Mother, will you recite to me the story once again." Requested the young child.

"Alright, Rohan. You sure do love the story don't you?" She said with a warm smile.

"A very long time ago a man was able to unite all of the lands and all of the people under the banner of peace. He wasn't just a ruler; he was a "True King". The kingdom was the greatest that there ever was. The throne sat upon the place called 'Avarith'. A beautiful city with a majestic castle, lovely houses surrounded with green plains with widespread towering trees as far as the eyes can see, and the lofty Urian mountains looked upon the land."

"Peace and prosperity lived in all of the lands. The crops grew in abundance so that not a single stomach was left empty. The land didn't know any calamity neither did the people. But days of such peace didn't last long. When the 3rd King of the land was crowned, a few years later a catastrophe befell the kingdom. The 3 holy priests of the kingdom prophesied that the demons who dwell beyond the spikes of the Skylar ocean which neither any ship nor any man can tread, will wage war and that the King's son would be their savior in this war between humans and those foul demons. The King was now apprehensive after understanding the situation and that his son being too young to fight the war was an indication by God that the war would stretch for a long period. He thought that the humans would not be able to withstand the demon race until then. The King then decided that he was to ask help from the witch who lives in the Urian mountains.Thehe witches' name was "Mjiyr". The King and his men traveled to the Urian mountains to meet the witch. When the King and the witch met, the King explained the circumstances to the witch and asked for help in any form she could give. The witch offered him 3 dragon eggs. The dragons that were to hatch shall side with humans and devour any demons that try to threaten them. But it wasn't going to be as simple as that. In return, Mjiyr had a demand of her own. This is not known to anyone, but it is said that the demand was so irrational and insulting that the King refused right away. Disappointed and insulted the King devised a plan to steal the eggs from Mjiyr. He and his men successfully stole the eggs when Mjiyr wasn't around. The King was so determined to save the kingdom that he even did such a shameful thing that dents a man's honor. When he returned to his castle, he ordered his army to prepare and arm themselves for battle. After a few days, he called a meeting with 3 holy priests regarding the dragon eggs. This was where the King was betrayed."

"The 3 holy priests revealed themselves as the higher demons from beyond the spikes. They revealed to the King that the prophecy of demons invading the human world was just a lie that they had concocted just so that they could acquire the dragon eggs which will be the only threat to them when the demons do attack the human world. The King realizing all of this, was in shock. His life appeared before his eyes. But the demons were dumbfounded when three hidden men appeared out of seemingly thin air, grabbed the eggs, and ran away in separate paths from the throne room. It turned out that these were the hidden guards of eggs that the King had appointed to take the eggs and run away to specific locations assigned to them if anything were to happen to him. It is said one of them ran away to the Northwest and one ran away to the East. The last one was supposed to come here in Skylar Islands, but as we know the egg hatched as he was crossing the ocean. Since then the Dragon has resided in the Skylar ocean letting no one cross the ocepeoplelee people of Skylar Islands have lost the connection we had with the mainland. All because of the Dragon. It is believed that after the death of the King, the kingdom was thrown into war and that it was broken into several other small kingdoms ruled by different people. We the people of Skylar tried to fight the dragon. Your father was in the band of the people of Skylar who went to challenge the Dragon. They went without fear. They fought a great battle but in the end, the Dragon prevailed. Your father fought like a true hero. It is said that the Dragon was so wounded that it had to remain silent for some time to heal. And that their sacrifices weren't in vain." She stopped to look out of the little window in their little house.

"Oh dear, a storm is emerging in the sea. Is someone trying to…" She spoke with nervousness.

"Alright, that's it for the story. Now, go to sleep Rohan." She said kissing him on his cheek. And then she went to sleep with sorrow in her head.

"Protect the soul of the one trying to cross the ocean."
