Prologue
Amias had a wonderful year of marching band. He marched everything perfectly. His music was 100% memorized, and he got recognition from the band directors and judges. Amias put up his flute and went to talk to his friend, Cassian.
It was hot outside, almost 110°F. Cassian was sitting outside in the band lot under the pavilion.
“Hey” Amias smiled.
“Hey Am” Cassian smiled back, still holding his clarinet and music.
“This was a really good marching season!”
“Yeah, it was. Wasn’t it? I still can’t believe we made it to finals and got 1st place almost every competition!”
“Hah! Yeah and when we got all ones at UIL?”
The two laughed. Amias and Cassian were always hanging out with each other, always having each others backs. They’ve always had a special bond. Some say they had a bromance, others say they were like brothers. Whatever it was, they could never be separated.
Amias gets a phone call; he answers and mouths to Cassian ′I’ll be right back’. He stands and walks away.
That was the last time Cassian saw Amias. That was the last time anyone saw Amias.
