PROLOGUE

Willowdale Academy stood majestic, shrouded in an air of mystery and solemnity. Approaching in his vintage Morris, Ewan Sanz contemplated the imposing wrought-iron gate. Adorned with intricate patterns, it stood like an ancestral guardian, marking the border between the outside world and the educational realm that awaited beyond.

The morning sun’s rays danced on the gate’s surface, casting shadows that twisted like whispers in the wind. Meticulously crafted patterns seemed to tell forgotten stories, secrets intertwined with each bar. A metallic creak announced the opening of the gates, revealing a passage into the unknown.

As Ewan’s car crossed the threshold, Willowdale Academy manifested as a relic of knowledge encased in stone and brick. The building, with tall pillars and barred windows, exuded an almost palpable presence. Each step forward felt like a step into the depths of history, where echoes of ancient wisdom resonated in the corridors.

The gardens surrounding the academy formed a symphony of colors and fragrances, yet also hid shadows in their corners. Tall willow trees bore witness to many years, whispering anonymously in the wind that caressed the leaves. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation, as if the very foundations of the building held sighs of past generations.

Ewan, heart pounding in anticipation, ventured into this world of possibilities. His attire, far from following glamorous trends, was simple and functional, in line with his focus on teaching. He wore a blouse in soft tones and khaki pants, choosing comfort over ostentation in that academic environment.

His auburn curls, illuminated by the morning light, took on a reddish hue that made them even more striking. The soft light highlighted the glints in his hair, giving him an air of serene strength. Though his appearance was carefree, the determination in his eyes did not go unnoticed.

Approaching the main building, the windows seemed like eyes curiously observing the newcomer. Every architectural detail told its own story: reliefs on the walls, adorned moldings, every crack in the facade seemed to be a reminder that Willowdale held more than it showed.

While the sun tried to dissolve the shadows between the corners of the academy, a latent suspense was perceived, as if the very walls were guardians of secrets waiting for the right moment to be unveiled. In that crossing of worlds, between the iron gate marking the entrance and the majestic walls of the Institute, the prologue of a story where each cobblestone seemed to have its own voice was unfolding.

The morning mist enveloped the surroundings as Ewan Sanz, with his heart pounding in anticipation, approached the imposing academy. With an air of solemnity, that gateway opened not just to a teacher but to the disruptive force he embodied.

The man, with his bohemian spirit and playful disregard for formalities, reflected on his peculiar choice to teach in a program of Cultural Studies and Applied Philosophy. “Ah, dear academy, are you ready to receive the storm of rebellious thoughts and philosophical jokes I bring?” he thought to himself with a mischievous smile.

As he crossed the threshold, he couldn’t help but imagine the confused faces of the students as they delved into his classes. “Today, esteemed ones, we will discuss the philosophy behind choosing pizza for breakfast and why unicorns should be the official mascot of the academy!” he silently mocked, knowing that his unconventional approach would raise more than one raised eyebrow. Thinking nonsense helped him overcome the anxiety of the moment.

The Morris’s engine purred as it slowly advanced toward the school campus. His eyes, filled with determination, scrutinized the path, oblivious to the intricate ballet of students rushing to their classes. In the midst of the tangle of faces and green-checked jackets, he paid no attention to a dark-haired boy crossing the path with the indifference of youth.

Jack, unaware of the imminent encounter that would change the course of their destinies, advanced nonchalantly. Ewan, absorbed in his thoughts, barely noticed the student who crossed his path. The screech of brakes, the smell of burning rubber, and the eternal moment when the world stopped for both.

The two worlds collided, not just the metal of the car with the asphalt but also Ewan’s imperturbable world with Jack’s seemingly untroubled youth. Almost like a carefully rehearsed choreography, the young man dodged the imminent collision with a skillful move, saving both their integrities.

“You almost ran me over!” Jack shouted, with a mix of indignation and astonishment, but Ewan remained silent, observing him with penetrating eyes.

A clash of glances, a barely perceptible pause, and then Ewan nodded, as if recognizing something deeper than the mere fact of a chance encounter.

Yet, in the shadows of that intersection, a silent observer kept the secret of that moment. A figure, barely visible among the trees, had witnessed the scene without being detected.

In another plane; Zoe and Marcus, Jack’s inseparable friends, rushed towards him to assist. The air was filled with palpable tension. Zoe, with her dark and determined expression, and Marcus, flaunting an elegant profile and apparent wealth, confronted the scene head-on. Leaves crunched under their hurried steps as they approached the scene.

Marcus’s angry gaze met Ewan’s, the newcomer, and with no interest in discovering who would be his next teacher or mentor, he unleashed his displeasure in a burst of insults shouted loudly. His fury echoed in the air, creating an atmosphere charged with hostility. His words, like sharp knives, cut through the quiet environment of the academy.

Zoe, with quick and determined gestures, tried to calm things down. Her dark eyes dripped with determination as she attempted to ease the situation.

However, once the tension subsided in Ewan, it created a tense counterpoint in the middle of the school campus. The usual hustle of students heading to classes transformed into restless murmurs at the scene unfolding.

The subtle rustle of the wind among the trees seemed to carry with it the whisper of secrets not yet revealed, intensifying the mystery that enveloped the watcher.

The enigmatic and unknown observer not only witnessed the clash of personalities and the explosion of emotions but also held their own motives and connections to the events unfolding in the academy. At that moment, the scene was not just a chance encounter, but the prelude to a much more complex and fascinating story about to unfold at Willowdale Academy.
