Chapter 1 The Cowboy

A cowboy swaggered into a little town out west. He had dust on his hat and spurs on his boots. His face was weathered and his atmosphere was sad.

All around him people stopped and stared. Whispers followed the stranger.

His walk was slow and steady, but there was a determined look in his eye and his steps were full of purpose.

Finally, he arrived at the center of town and strode into a little shop, where the little old shopkeeper was being held at gunpoint. Sweat covered the little old man's face and his arms were shaking in the air seeking mercy.

The masked man holding the gun twitched.

"Let 'em go," growled the cowboy.

The robber was so startled he turned and shot the cowboy... But nothing happened.

"Last warnin'," grumbled the cowboy.

The masked man shot the cowboy again.

The cowboy sighed, shook his head and took a step forward.

The masked man continued to shoot while the little old man who ran the shop just stared slack jawed as the cowboy slowly stomped his way to the would-be-robber and grabbed his gun.

Then he placed his hand on the man's neck and a black mist poured out of the masked man, and then dissipated into the air.

The cowboy let out a low groan as the masked man fell slowly to the ground.

The cowboy tipped his hat to the shop owner, and turned on his heels and sauntered out the door.

More astonished people stopped and stared until the cowboy walked to the edge of the town line and vanished into a cloud of dust.
