Chapter 1
" Thank you so much Natalie for taking such good care of my daughter." Ms. Smith smiled at Natalie who was holding a tiny human in her arms.
" No big deal Ms.Smith, it's always a pleasure to help" Natalie smiled, being a nanny was something that Natalie enjoyed doing. Being with children reminds Natalie that life is short, and that it's okay to be a kid still at heart.
" You have a wonderful day now, You're paycheck is on the table" Ms.Smith commented as she started walking up the stair to place the tiny human into there bed.
Natalie smiled, seeing what she sees now is the reason why she enjoy doing what she does. Natalie started making her way to the table to grab the check and call it a night.
Flipping the check over, Natalie smiled turned into a frown . This paycheck was not what the payment was agreed on, how is she going to be paying for bills that have stacked up in the past couple of months.
Natalie started making her way towards the door, at the end of the day the check was still a check. Ms. Smith came down the stairs noticing that Natalie's mood totally changed.
" Is everything ok?" Ms. Smith asked.
" Uhh.." Natalie hesitated, in her heart and mind she wanted to fight for what she wanted but she knew that if she tried, it would not end well like how she would want it.
Ms.Smith stood there waiting to see what Natalie would say or respond. Natalie looked at the check then back up.
" Was it not what you expected." Ms.Smith commented with an attitude.
" No No, I'm thankful for the check. But I asked for one week it be 1350$ but here it only says 1,000$" Natalie pointed out.
" I'm aware, You see Natalie.. My husband and I have been doing some thinking and we just feel like for the amount of work you do, it's not worth us paying you $1350" Ms.Smith said with an attitude tone.
" Ms. Smith, I understand and get why you feel like I don't do my job but I take care of Eva 9 hours a day for 6 days.. The lease you could do is give me for what I ask for" Natalie was not going to let Ms.Smith talk about her like that. She needed to stand her ground.
Ms.Smith nodded, she was silent for a while until she decided to respond back to Natalie.
" How about we make this easier, Today is your last day. This is your last check. Maybe you could find another family to nanny for" Ms.Smith walked away and into her Kitchen.
Natalie was too shocked to speak, she just got low-balled, but also lost her job at the same time. Natalie turned back around to notice that Ms.Smith was already on her phone looking for new nanny to take care of Ava.
Natalie grabbed her bag and started making her way towards the door with her head hung low. Finding a job in New York is definitely difficult, but I guess today her job hunting journey beh
