“Alpha!” Lorian said while I punched trees to train.

“Lorian, how’s the patrol? Anything to report?” I asked.

“A few branches snapped off a couple of bushes near the southern border of our territory, but other than that, all seems good,” Lorian reported.

“Snapped off? Investigate it, Lorian,” I ordered.

“Alpha, it could have been a deer,” Lorian shrugged.

“Could be; it is mating season, after all. But I want it investigated anyway. With the mating season comes hunting season. Every year those fuckers get closer to the pack’s borders. Investigate it, Lorian; I will not risk our safety based on speculation and what-ifs,”

“I can double patrol on the southern border until the investigation is concluded,” Lorian offered.

“Good, now I gotta go, doctor’s appointment,” I said.

“What number is this one?” Lorian asked me.

“Number 3,” I groaned.

“Damn, those two are building thier own pack?” Lorian laughed.

“Yeah, you’re telling me,” I said.

“Alright, I’ll keep you informed,” Lorian bowed and returned to the southern border.

I went to the doctor’s office to congratulate my sister and brother-in-law. “It’s a girl,” Doctor Flaur said.

“Congratulations guys, that’s great.” I smiled at Jessie’s and Marian’s appointment. Marian is also my beloved younger sister.

“I said your boobs were bigger just like the first time,” Jessie joked.

“Ugh, whatever,” Marian scoffed at her mate. “As I said last time, I knew it was a girl too,”

“Can you two put a filter on your words?” I asked. “I’d love to not know how big my sister’s chest has gotten,” I shivered.

“No can do, I’m afraid, brother,” Jessie snickered.

“Yeah, then we wouldn’t get to see that priceless repulsed look on your face,” Marian smiled at me.

“I’m surprised, Alpha and Luna. How long have you lasted this time? Nearly halfway through the pregnancy, you demanded to know the gender of your child,” Doctor Flaur said.

“Yes, well, we’re excited,” Marian placed her hands on her stomach.

“I can’t wait to meet my new little niece. Speaking of, where are my favorite niece and nephew?” I asked my sister.

“They’re at home with Mom and Dad,” Marian said. “I’m gonna go wash this gel off and then pee. I am busting,” Marian walked to the bathroom.

“So, how’s the pack going?” Jessie asked me.

“All good on my front. How’s yours?” I smiled.

“Exceptional. Marian and I considered taking the kids for a holiday before the baby. After that, we can spend time together as a family. Robin will take over for a while we’re gone,”

“You trust that party boy with your pack?” I asked him.

“Fuck no, that’s why I’m going to make Edith my beta. She’ll keep him in line,” Jessie said.

“I’d hate to get on her bad side,” I said.

“Don’t I know it,” Jessie said.

“Right well, I’ll leave you to deal with her,” I laughed. “And tell her that I said hi and I hope she’s doing okay,”

“I will and I’ll see you at the family dinner,” Jessie said.

“I would never miss it for the world,” I said as I shook Jessie’s hand and left their pack hospital. I returned to my home in my pack lands.

“Alpha, how was the appointment?” York asked me as he walked into my office.

“Another girl, York,” I smiled at him.

“Nice, Hazel is going to love having another sister,” York smiled.

“I believe those two are not finished having kids yet. We werewolves are encouraged to have many children,” I said.

“Yeah, I know. Jessie loves his mate so what do you expect?” York laughed. “Does it upset you seeing them together because you haven’t found your mate yet?”

“Yes and no. I’m in no rush to find my mate. I have a pack to run and believe that fate or the Moon Goddess will give him to me. As for being alone, I’m spending time with my beta,” I said.

“You and Lorian are in the same situation. Both waiting to find your mates. It’s only natural that you two find comfort in each other,” York pats my shoulder.

“I’m glad he understands,” I nodded.

“Why don’t you take some time off and vist some of the nearby packs. Your mate might be there waiting for you there,” York suggested.

“I have too much on my plate. My cousin Garland is coming in from Russia. I haven’t seen her in two years since she had her little one,” I said.

“That reminds me, how is Jessie’s Ex-Beta doing? Mated to her, of all people? She’s one tough Russian Alpha,” York said.

“You can say that again,” I laughed. “But he’s a glutton for punishment, so he loves it. It’s great watching that duo. As my Delta, I don’t need you to do anything for now, as everything is set. They’re staying with Marian and Jessie so the kids can play. But she’ll be over here visiting at some point. Garland will probably inspect my warriors and start training them if they need to be up to her standards,” I said.

“Well, they’ll love the training; I know I do. Alpha Garland is tough,” York said.

“Are you saying that I’m not?” I crossed my arms at him.

“That’s not what I said, Alpha. Alpha Garland is terrifying when she starts whispering in Russian. Nobody knows what she’s saying, but she gets this evil glint in her eyes that scares us,” York shuddered.

“So all I need to do is start talking Russian to you lot?” I asked.

“And be pretty,” York added.

“I’m not pretty? York, you wound me,” I winked. “I have a family dinner tonight and then I’m going back to the club. I’ve been busy this month, and I haven’t had time to check in, and I haven’t received any updates either,” I said.

“I’ll meet you there for drinks. I’m going to do a run around the borders, I’ll see you later,” York smiled.

“Report to Lorian if you notice anything suspicious,” I said.

“Anything in particular, Alpha?” York tilted his head.

“Could be nothing. We could have some bucks on the prowl for mating or hunters about. I paid the witches more than enough for their wards and charms to ward anything off from our pack,” I explained.

“Unless they have their own witch among them?” York said.

“Don’t even put that out there. Not get out of my office please, didn’t you say that you were going to scout the packs borders?” I glared into his eyes.

“Right away, Alpha,” York then ran out.

I hope York finds nothing on his scout around the pack. It will take him most of the afternoon and well into the night before he’s run the whole parameter of my land. My father set up our family inside the neutral zone between two packs the day we arrived. He met with both of them, swore truces, and made alliances. They agreed to dissolve the neutral land and create another pack. I was three years old when my father became Alpha.

I only remember some of the stories growing up. My twin sister Marian, identically looking and the female version of me, discovered she was mated to the Alpha’s son of the neighboring pack. A year later, our cousin Garland asked my father for advice since she was sworn in as Alpha in Russia. They were going to do the Alpha Ceremony the following week. And her pack was surprised when she returned to Russia with her mate at her side. Jessie lost his beta and childhood friend, but since he was mated and now bound to my family, he wasn’t gone forever.

I couldn’t imagine how different our lives would have been if our father hadn’t decided he was done with Siberian winters and wanted a change.

I went to the club, and I caused a few heads to turn. “Alpha Henrik, I wasn’t expecting you,” Holly said.

“Do I need to be expected? I own this club, Holly,” I growled softly.

“Yes, Alpha, forgive me,” Holly lowered her head. “I just meant I wasn’t expecting you, so I didn’t have time to prepare for your arrival or booth,” Holly said.

“It’s okay, Holly. I’m going to the den anyway. Send Jaden in,” I said.

“Yes Alpha,” Holly bowed.

I waited at my booth for Jaden to arrive. He walked in a few moments after I did. “Alpha Henrik, what brings you here?” Jaden asked me.

“I haven’t been here in a while. How’s the club?” I asked. “Is there anything I should know?”

“Eh, going good. It could use a few renovations, though. Two different bathroom pipes have burst multiple times, and a leaky tap in the bar sink has been grinding on the regular wolf ears. And just some wear and tear here and there,” Jaden handed me a list of other repairs that he didn’t want to say out loud.

“Shit. Alright, I’ll get these repairs done. It’s time for this place to get a facelift anyway. The town’s population has grown, and more rogues are joining my pack, and more vampires are joining Jessie’s. They keep finding mates within his, though,” I said.

“Must be particular cause that’s unheard of. But then again, so is a pack full of rogues. I’d be packless if you didn’t accept us with open arms,” Jaden said.

“You passed the trials,” I nodded.

“That I did, now do you want your usual?” Jadan asked.

“Yes, and thank you,” I smiled.

“I won’t be long Alpha Henrik,” Jadan bowed.

From my view from the den, I could see how my club has aged over the years since I bought the place. Patrons and the regulars started floating in for the night, enjoying it as usual, which drew my attention to one regular in particular. “Ugh, what’s this idiot doing now? Oh great, it’s Robin,”

I walked over to Robin while he was having two women grinding on him. “Robin, what are you doing here? You remember that we have a family dinner in an hour. I don’t think my sister and your brother will appreciate you coming home drunk,” I scoffed.

“Henrik, will you relax. I won’t be THAT drunk. Especially with these two beautues to keep me occupied,” Robin said, slurring his words a little.

“No, they won’t. By the way, Robin, didn’t you just meet your mate?” I smiled. The two girls smack Robin across the face and left.

“You bastard, now look what you did! I can play with whoever I want. My mate doesn’t want me and she made that very clear,” Robin said.

“Have you ever tried, Robin?” I crossed my arms.

“Have you? Didn’t think so; you have Lorian, so why bother with a mate. How come I can’t have that,” Robin yelled.

“Because you found your mate, Robin. To me it looks like you are living up to your reputation as a playboy and a man whore and wants nothing to do with that. Have you shown her that you are more than a flirty party boy?” I said. “Maybe if you showed that are serious about the mate bond than maybe she wouldn’t push you away,”

“I’m done talking about this with you Henrik. I need a fucking drink,” Robin growled.

“I own this place Robin, no more drinks for you,” I smirked.

“I’d like to see you try and stop me,” Robin said. “What are you going to do, Hen-Hen,”

With one swift punch, I knocked him face flat on the ground. “No one calls me Hen-Hen, fucker!” I grabbed him by his hair. “Call me that again, and I promise you will beg me to kill you, now we are going to Jessie’s house and have a nice dinner as a family. Are we clear?”

Robin nodded swiftly.

I left the club with Robin and went to Jessie’s house for the family dinner. Jessie was waiting for me. “Sorry I’m late, Jessie, I brought someone with me,”

“What’d he burn down this time?” Jessie groaned.

“Nothing, he was trying to take home two women,” I smiled.

“What the hell were you thinking, Robin?” Marian yelled. “You have a mate,”

“Who wants nothing to do with me. How many times do I gotta tell ya’ll that??” Robin said.

“I can assure you, Robin, she does want you. But given the reputation you have, maybe she’s waiting to see how you aren’t like that,” Marian said.

“Ugh, I’m sick and tired of hearing the same shit,” Robin groaned again.

“Who osel said that?” Marian asked.

“Your twin brother, Luna Marian,” Robin grunted.

“I see, great minds think alike,” Marian smiled at me.

“Certainly,” I agreed.

“I’m gonna play with the kids, at least THEY won’t judge me,” Robin walked off.

“I assure you, the kids would if they could. Goddess, someone’s gotta knock some sense into him. Sarena does it daily, but I’m sure she gets sick of doing it,”

“I say Robin’s mate needs to do it. He’s being a baby and not seeing the bigger picture at all. If that was me, and Jessie was acting like an ass, I wouldn’t want anything to do with him for fear of getting hurt. I would like him to earn my trust and be worthy of me,” Marian said.

“Well, I’m glad I wasn’t one when we first met,” Jessie kissed Marian’s cheek.

“Me too, my love,” Marian cooed.

“Fucking disgusting,” I said.

“Oh stop being immature and being a big baby,” Marian said.

“How am I immature? I own the hottest club in this town, multiple investments in properties, a fight club, and my hotels, which are being built as we speak. Not to mention my growing pack of rogues. A feat no other pact could or could do. It takes work being an Alpha to rogues who have never been part of a pack for years. Now tell me, what do you do again, besides multiply?”

Jessie yawned at me. “Jess, are you not going to say anything?” Marian elbowed him.

“Henrik is your brother, baby. I’d rather not get involved,” Jessie said.

“Oh, I see; take his side then. I’m only carrying your child,” Marian walked off, looking annoyed.

“Marian, come one. Baby, please,” Jessie ran after her. “I was joking, of course I’m on your side,”

“Sickening,” I shook my head.

“You got that right,” said a voice behind me.

I turned around, and I saw my good friend, Sarena. “You’re getting good at this Sarena. I didn’t notice you until you said somthing,”

“I’ve been working on my sneaking skills,” Sarena giggled.

“Still dreaming about being one of Garlands shadow wolves?” I asked.

“Damn right, who wouldn’t?!” Sarena said.

“Garland will be here soon, do you think you’ll get her approval this time?” I smiled at Sarena. “She’s very strict,”

“I know; she’s turned me down four times already,” Sarena groaned. “But I’ll get it this time; I just know it. I know I will become a member of the shadow wolves,”

“I wish you luck Sarena, and may the Goddess be with you,” I hugged her.
