Chapter 1: The lab

*Click clack, click clack* The clicking sound came from the computers as scientists were studying. “Did you do Kat’s morning check-up?” a scientist said.
“Yes, her results came back as positive and it says she is half-cat.” another scientist replied. The room went quiet, all that was left was silence.
“Fascinating, I've never seen these results before from any of the experiments!” a scientist said.
“Kat must be a very rare species then.”
“Should we study these results?” another scientist asked.
The scientist nodded his head in agreement. “Alright, you heard the boss, less talking and more studying!” a scientist demanded.
The next day passes by and people are attending a tour at the lab. “As you can see, this is experiment 769.” a scientist said. The crowd of people were fascinated by the experiments. “And this is experiment 001 known as Katherine! She is 9 years old and the special thing about her is that she is half cat!” a scientist said. The crowd was very interested in Kat, and specifically these two parents. “Shall we continue with the tour?” a scientist said.
“Um pardon me but, is Katherine up for sale? My wife and I are looking for a kid to adopt.” said the two parents.
“Sorry but no, she's not up for sale. She's a very rare experiment after all so I don't think you would be able to take care of her.“ The scientist laughed.
The parents handed the scientist a briefcase. “Go ahead, open it.” said the parents. The scientist opened the briefcase and in front of him was a million dollars. “Would that change your mind?” said the parents.
The scientist whispered to another scientist. “Let's talk about this later, after the tour.” the scientist said.
The scientist told the parents to follow them after the tour was over. The scientist handed the parents a form they would have to fill out. “To take custody of Kat you will have to sign this contract and you will have to take care of Kat but the contract will only last until she is 18.” The parents signed the form. “Great, you may follow me and I will introduce you to Katherine and then you may feel free to take her home after.” said the scientist. The two parents followed the scientist and they entered a big white room filled with toys on the ground. “Katherine, we have some guests that would like to meet you!” said the scientist. A girl with a tail and cat ears crawled out from the corner. “These two people will be taking care of you!” said the scientist. Kat's ears perked up from what the scientist said.
“We’re very delighted to adopt Kat. We’ll make sure to take good care of her.” The two parents took Kat’s hand and led her out of the lab. The hot sun was shining bright on Kat’s face; Kat smiled happily and jumped in the air. Since Kat had never been outside of the lab before she was very thrilled. Kat got in the car and the parents drove to the house. Kat stepped out of the car and they led her into the house.
“This mansion is huge!” said Kat.
“Come on sweetie, we have to show you your room!” said Kat’s parents.
Kat’s parents took Kat to her room and opened the bedroom door for her. “ IT’S SO PRETTY!” Kat squealed in an excited tone as she looked around and saw pretty textures on the walls and expensive furniture. The bed was super fluffy and just the right size for her.
“We hope you will like it here!” said Kat’s parents. Kat flopped onto her fluffy bed and looked up at her new parents smiling in happiness.
