01 Help
Be nice. Be good. Help others. Those seem to be ancient rules. This time is full of bad shit. Nobody cares. Everybody is just too selfish. Sabrina Carter was a woman with principles. If you would be good to her, she will treat you the same way. If not… Well she would ignore you. One day her life was turned upside down. Her mother had a terrible car accident. The police came to their house and took Sabrina to her mother in Memorial Hospital. Doctor told her, her mother is living just thanks to the machines. Sabrina was hysterical. She didn't understand. Doctor gave her sedatives.
"Miss Carter, your mother is a match for a little girl, who needs a heart transplant. I know, it is hard, but time is the essence here. Your mother is dead, but even so she could save an innocent life." The doctor said camly.
"No… She will… Oh God! Doctor, I don't know…."
"Please, my daughter needs your help, please, I'm begging you!" A man behind her said in a shaking voice.
"Show me!" Sabrina needed to see with her own eyes.
The man took her to a room, where a little girl around 7 lay in a coma. She had even more machines around her than Sabrina's mother. Sabrina started to cry again. The man helped her sit down.
"I know, it is way too much to ask. I can't even imagine how you are feeling. Or I can, a little. My daughter is very sick. I can't lose her, I already lost my wife. Please, Miss." Sabrina looked at him. He was in a button shirt and jeans. He had deep gray eyes and blonde hair. From what she saw, he had a pretty good worked up body. His muscles almost ripped his clothing appart. He was taller than Sabrina, she nearly had the top of her head by his shoulders. Even the man checked Sabrina out. She was a gorgeous little being. Her long red hair and brown eyes were like a magnet. She had natural curves. She had baggy clothing on her, so she could hide her beauty more. "You can come and visit us, so you see with your own eyes how you helped us." That got Sabrina's attention.
"I am afraid, I have nobody else," she admitted. After Sabrina finished school, her boyfriend moved to another city. After a while he found a new girlfriend and they broke up. They still chat from time to time, they are better friends as they were a couple. "What's your name?"
"I am Robert Newman. And the little angel is Jessica."
"Sabrina Carter. Usually I would say, it is nice to meet you, but…" She lowered her eyes.
"Yeah, I know…"
"Okay, I'm going to say my goodbye," he looked at her with a question written on his face. "I let the doctor know, he can prepare the surgery. I hope you get your happy ending. Bye." She turned and walked away leaving Robert behind.
Sabrina made the arrangements for the funeral. She didn't perceive the people. She just blindly shook their hands and said thanks.
"Thank you, Sabrina," the man's voice brought Sabrina back to reality. She looked up to see Robert, shaking her hand. "Jessica is doing fine thanks to your kindness. I will never forget it!" Everybody was looking at them.
"Sabrina, honey, who is the man? Is he bothering you?" Her neighbor asked.
"It is okay, Miss Westlake. It is Robert, I know him," Miss Westlake just nodded and everybody minded their own business after this. "I am sorry, she was my mom's friend."
"It is okay. I am sorry to be here. I just wanted to let you know and had no contact, so I looked for the funeral in the local newspaper. I found it. My condolences! I better go." Robert turned to walk away.
"Wait!" Sabrina called, he looked back at her. "Do you want… Do you want to have a coffee?" He smiled and nodded.
Sabrina made a reservation in a local restaurant. She ordered food and some free drinks. She let the people talk and took a seat in the corner with Robert. She explained, she never told anybody. She is just happy, everything worked out so well for his daughter. Robert asked her to come to the hospital to visit, but she said it was too early. He felt bad, he didn't want to hurt her. She looked so fragile. He asked her about her job and life.
Sabrina explained to him, she lives in the house, where they used to live with her mum. She will have to sell it and find a new smaller place. It hurted her, but there was no other choice. She worked in a small coffee shop, because there was no need for previous experiences. She had her degree in design, but nobody would hire her. Her ex got lucky to find a job in another city. She was bound to take care of her mother. Now she is just afraid to let go, to make a change.
Robert was a successful business maker. His wife was one taking care of their daughter. She got cancer and died, when Jessica was three years old. He made sure, he will split his time between work and his daughter. They found out she had a special heart disease. She spent last year in the hospital. If not for Sabrina and her mother, she would die too.
There were people leaving and hugging Sabrina. Robert just sat there and was nodding his head. After a while, they were left alone. RObert asked Sabrina if she wanted him to take her home. She agreed. He wanted to know where she lives. He looked around the neighborhood.
"Sabrina, this is a dangerous place!" Robert felt protective over her all the sudden.
"Yeah, we had not much to find something better. We made it work." Sabrina said.
"Okay… I want to help you. Please let me. It's the least I can do for you." Sabrina looked at him. "I say it, you can decide in your own time. I want you to work in my house. You would take care of my daughter and my house. You would live in the same house with us. At least until you find something design related. I will help you with that."
"I will think about that. I had a lot to process… Thank you for the ride! Have a nice day!" Before Robert could say anything, she closed the car door and vanished into the house.
"Fuck!" He cursed. He sat there for another five minutes and then drove off.

Such a sad start. 😭💕💕💕
