NOVA

Neural Interface.

It is a cutting-edge technology that allows individuals to connect their minds directly to the city's wireless network. It serves as a means of communication, information exchange, and control over various aspects of the city.

However....

the Neural Interface also poses a threat as it can be used by the authorities to monitor and manipulate the thoughts and actions of its citizens.

And I refuse to be part of their drones!

My jaw clenched as I look down at my home town before looking up at the Illuminated Colander.

The upper level.

People, no, Snobs- stupid rich people that love the authorities and kiss there ass's just to keep living there life.

I look at the people living lives unaware and feel my anger and announce bubble and boil inside me. Thats when i hear foot steps and quickly make sure my mask is in place and set.

We aren't allowed to know each other's identites to protect each other...from who? The Authorities. Why? Because WE are the Masked Resistance.

The one's who live in the Shadow Colander. The ones who refused to be controlled.

"Boss."

That was blade. My right hand man. I didn't even need to look at him to know it was him. His voice is rough and sharp meaning its time to get back to work. I stand slowly and turn on my voice changer as I sigh.

"Yes.. Yes i know.. The mission. I was just out here reminding myself why do it all."

Why do it all? How did i even get here? Hating the city I lived in all my life. About to go on a mission that was about to make the group noticed by the hole world for the first time.

I stand there as I find my mind wonder. Wonder back to the beginning.

"YOU CURSED CHILD!! HOW DARE YOU!!"

My father's words ring in my head and I quickly shake my head and growl upset, the rage in me resurfacing as i pull my thoughts back to the present, i turn on my heal and walk to the door off the roof top with blade sharp on my heels. I finally glance at him and see his mask was upgraded.

Blade is tall, something between 5ft 9in or 6ft 1in, he always wore a mask that looked like a motorcycle helmet but sharper and more defined, along with a hoodie an some random jeans, and he was a mostly average man in my eyes. Yet women in our group seem to....'

swoon and sigh as they'd call it. I just saw blade, my right hand and trusted friend who never once would dress formally for our work despite my constant nagging.

I roll my eyes not wanting to fight again about his choice of clothes, though latly it has been less lazy, and like he could see through my mask he grumbled quietly. Something along the lines of "don't you start boss." Or "don't look at me like that" I just ignore his grumbles though unless it is about a serious conversation.

I head to my room as he waits outside of it guarding the door so i can remove my mask and make sure i look the part for the mission that is about to happen. I look in the mirror and slightly freeze.

Shit

I forgot to cover the very top of it this morning. I hated my face. I didn't mind my body but when i came to my face it was like a deer in the road faceing headlights at a speeding car.

My skin is pale, my black dark hair clash with my bright pink eyes, my lips are scard from nervously biting them, and my nose felt to tiny for my face. I quickly shut my eyes and reach for my blanket and toss it at the mirror before slowly opening my eyes to my now crooked hovering mirrior with the blanket on the top. Before I fix it I hear a knock and blade speaking sternly

"Boss, we gotta go."

I quickly put on a simple yet beautiful dress, did my hair easily not needing to look in the mirror, and aplide a blind fold that was thin enough to see through but dark enough to hide my eyes.

I didn't feel right dressed like this. Why am i the one even doing this?

I sighs as a reminder of our meeting for this mission appears, goes louder, in my mind.

"We are going to use this big ball party to our advantage, it is in a building that is closest to the capital and because the owner is rich has the best connection to the new station."

I go over the plan at our control room. We lived in a abandoned building perfect for no suspicion even if we live in the lower colander, the bottom level.

"The people who have there N. I.-" (Neural interface) "- hacked and altered will be outside incase anything goes wrong. The ones who don't have it hacked need that done before the next update. Finally the people who dont have one yet need to hide at our little base camp sight as back up. I depend on all of you just as you depend on me to use my 'power' and rare N.I. tech."

I called it power because it seemed that no one could find the kind of tech i was born with and my mind was mostly tech due to... Events as a child and even gave me my eyes. Now i can hack anything, even some people, not that i would. I am nothing like thatmonster.

My two comands, my tech, and my right hand all listen to my words and stair at the map in front of me. If i could see there face I bet there lookd could turn the hole map to ash.

"We are gonna get the explosives through the back, and ill make sure to put in the video along with the distraction using me tech."

I hear a knocking again from blade pulling me back to the present.

" boss, ready?"

"Yes, yes im ready." Blade is the only one who's never seen me without a mask so he is my escort to the party and if anything goes wrong he knows I'm the one he needs to get out before backup tries to kill me, mistaking me for a regular. I trust him with my life.
