Chapter 1
Iris and Harry, we're in their cramped little room under the stairs. Iris hated how their aunt and uncle treats them and makes them sleep under the stairs. But what's worse is she gets treated worse than Harry does. She doesn't know why they hit her, they are the main reason why Iris has an eating disorder because they would always comment on her weight, but that is when Harry is not around, the Dursley really despises the two Potter children, especially Iris.
-
Harry and Iris were awoken by Petunia knocking on the door. "Up. Get up" She then unlocked the door. "Now!" she walked away.
Iris sat up and sighed while Harry turns the light on and puts his glasses on.
Dudley then comes stomping down the stairs but then goes back up and starts jumping up and down on the stairs above the two Potter siblings. "Wake, up, Cousins! We're going to the Zoo!" Dudley laughs and goes down the stairs and on his way to the kitchen he pushes Harry which makes Harry fall on Iris.
"Sorry," Harry tells his sister.
Iris gives him a small smile. "It's fine, you didn't do it that brat did"
Harry nods and walks out of the room rubbing his head with Iris getting out right behind him.
"Oh, here he comes, the birthday boy!"
"Happy birthday, son"
Harry and Iris walk into the kitchen/ dining area/ living room.
"Why don't you two just cook the breakfast and try not to burn anything," Petunia told the Potter siblings.
"Yes, Aunt Petunia," Harry said.
The two Potter siblings began to cook breakfast. While Petunia covered Dudley's eyes. "I want everything to be perfect, for my Dudley's special day!" Petunia said guiding Dudley to what she wanted to show him.
"Hurry up! Bring me my coffee!"
"Yes, Uncle Vernon," Iris said going to get his coffee.
Petunia uncovered Dudley's eyes. "Aren't they wonderful, darling?"
Dudley turned to his parents. "How many are there?"
"Thirty-six. I counted them myself"
"Thirty-six? But last year, last year I had 37!" Dudley said.
"Yes, some of them are quite a bit bigger than last year's," Vernon told his son.
"I don't care how big they are!"
"Oh, now, now, now, this is what we're going to do, is that when we go out, we're going to buy you two new presents. How's that, pumpkin?" Petunia asked her son.
-
Iris walked out of the house with Harry and their Uncle behind them. When Iris got close to the car to get in Vernon closed the door and gripped Iris's shoulder a little too tight and pointed his keys at Harry.
"I'm warning you two now. Any funny business, any at all, you won't have any meals for a week. Get in"
Iris rubbed her shoulder and got in the car with Harry right behind her.
-
Iris, Harry, and the Durselys were looking at the snake in one of the exhibits.
"Make it move!" Dudley said.
Vernon knocked on the glass that was helping keep the snake in. "Move!"
Dudley did the same as his father but knocked harder on the glass. "Move!"
"He's asleep!" Harry told them.
"He's boring," Dudley said and walked away with his parents following them.
"Sorry about him. He doesn't understand what it's like lying there day after day watching people press their ugly faces in on you"
The snake picked up its head and moved it a little.
"Can you hear him?" Iris asked shocked.
The snake nodded its head and rose higher.
"It's just... I've never talked to a snake before. Do you... I mean.. Do you talk to people often?"
The snake shook its head no.
"You're from Burma, aren't you? Was it nice there? Do you miss your family?" Iris asked the snake.
The snake pointed its head behind them, and the two siblings looked that way and then back to the snake.
"I see. That's me as well. We never knew our parents, either"
"Mummy, Dad, come here! You won't believe what this snake is doing" Dudley said running to the two siblings and the snake, and pushing Harry and Iris which makes them fall to the ground. Dudley puts his hands on the glass. Harry stared at the glass which made it disappear and Dudley to fall in. Iris chuckled along with Harry, and the snake then crawled out and looked at the two siblings "Thanks" Iris nodded. "Anytime" Then the snake crawled away hissing at people to make them move out of the way.
Dudley got up from where he was sitting and put his hand out which touched the glass and he started tapping at the glass. "Mum! Mummy!"
"Aah!"
"Mum, help me! Help me!"
"My darling boy! How did you get in there?"
Harry and Iris were smiling, but they stopped when Vernon turned to look at them and they both gulped.
"It's alright, sweetheart. It's alright. We'll get you out of these terribly cold clothes" Petunia said guiding her son in the house.
Vernon grabbed the two siblings' hair.
"Ow!"
"What happened?" Vernon demanded.
"I swear we don't know!" Iris said.
"Grr!"
"One minute the glass was there and then it was gone! It was like magic!"
Vernon opened the door under the stairs where the two siblings sleep and pushed them in and locked it so they can't get out. "There's no such thing as magic!"
Harry walked into the door where the kitchen/dining room/ living room was, he handed the mail to Vernon and handed the same letter he got to Iris.
"Oh, Marge is ill. Are a funny whelk"
Dudley then snatched the letters from the two siblings. "Dad, look, Harry and Iris got a letter!" Dudley then handed the letters to his parents.
"Hey, give it back! It's ours!" Harry said.
"Yours? Who'd be writing to you?"
Vernon looked at the letter then to his wife and then to the two Potters who were looking at him.
Iris and Harry were playing in their small room when they heard drilling.
"No more mail through this letter box"
Harry opened the door and looked to see what their uncle was doing and Iris peaked her head out to, she looked at Harry and he looked back before they both shook their head and Harry closed the door.
"Fins day, Sunday. In my opinion, best day of the week. Why is that, Dudley?" Vernon asked.
Dudley shrugged his shoulders.
"Cause there's no post on Sundays?" Harry asked handing out a plate of cookies to Vernon.
Vernon grabbed a cookie. "Right, you are, Harry. No post on Sunday. Ha! No blasted letters today! No, sir! Not one single bloody letter! Not one!"
Harry heard some Owls making noises so he went and looked out the window and saw a lot of owls outside of the house, and Iris looked out the window a few seconds after he walked to the window.
"No, sir! Not one blasted, miserable.." Vernon was cut off by a letter flying in from the chimney and hitting him in the face.
Harry and Iris quickly turned to look. Not even a few seconds later a whole much of letters flew through the chimney.
Dudley screams. "Make it stop! Please make it stop!"
Dudley jumped in his mom's lap and hugged her right while Petunia was also screaming and holding Dudley in her arms. Harry was jumping up and trying to grab a letter and Iris grabbed one from the floor and they both ran away.
"Give me that! Give me those letters!" Vernon said going after the two.
Harry goes to unlock the door to their room but Vernon grabbed him and picked him up and had a grip on Iris with his free hand that he made free.
"Get off of us!"
"They're our letters! Let go of us!" Iris said.
The letters were then shot through the mail slot on their door. "That's it! We're going away! Far away! Where they can't find us!"
"Daddy's gone mad, hasn't he?" Dudley asked.
Iris was laying down on the floor looking at what Harry was drawing in the dirt.
"Happy birthday Harry" Iris said to him.
Harry smiled and looked at the cake he had drawn. "Make a wish, Harry" he then blows on the dirt.
Something then started banging on the door until it fell to the floor. Harry hid behind a wall and Iris was out in the open where the person banging at the door could see her, while Dudley moved to the back.
"Who's there?" Vernon asked pointing his gun at the door.
The food finally fell and a really tall person walked in. "Sorry about that," he said picking up the door and putting it back.
"I demand that you leave at once, sir! You're breaking and entering!"
"Dry up, Dursley, you great prune," Hagrid said and bent the end of the gun up to the sky and it went off leaving a hole in the roof.
"My, I haven't seen you two since you were a baby, Harry, Iris, but you're a bit more along than I would've expected particularly 'round the middle" Hargid said thinking Dudley was Harry.
"I- I'm not Harry"
"I- I am," Harry said moving to where Hagrid could see him.
"Well, of course, you are. Got something for you. Fraid I might have sat on it at some point, but I imagine it'll taste fine just the same. Baked it myself, words and all" Hagrid said handing Harry the box with the cake in it.
Harry opened it and saw Happy Birthday Harry written on it. "Thank you"
"It's not every day your young man turns 11 now is it, eh?"
Hagrid then sat down on the sofa and sighs and takes something out of his coat pocket and aims it at the fireplace and lit it up.
Harry sat his cake down and looked at Hagrid. "Excuse me, but.. We who are you?"
"Rubeus Hagrid keeper of keys and grounds at Hogwarts. Of course, you'll know all about Hogwarts"
"Sorry, no," Harry said.
"No? Blimey, Hatty, Iris, didn't you ever wonder where your mum and dad learned it all?"
Iris nodded her head.
"Learned what?" Harry asked.
"You two are a wizard and a witch"
"We are a what?" Harry asked.
"A wizard and a witch, and a thumpin' good 'un, I'd wager, once you train up a little"
"No. You've made a mistake. I mean.. We can't be a- a wizard and a witch. I mean, I"m just... Harry and she is just... Iris" Harry said.
"Well, Just Harry did you ever make anything happen, anything you couldn't explain when you were angry o- or scared?"
Harry didn't say anything and neither did Iris. Hagrid stood up and gave the Potter siblings a letter. They both opened it and read the letter, well Iris read it in her head and Harry read his out loud.
'Dear Mr. Potter. We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
"They will not be going, I tell you! We swore when we took them in we'd put a stop to all this rubbish!" Vernon said walking closer to the two siblings.
"You knew? You knew all along, and you never told us?" Harry asked looking at his Aunt.
"Of course, we knew. How could you not be? My perfect sister being who she was. Oh, my mother and father were so proud 'the day she got her letter.' We have a witch in the family. Isn't it wonderful? I was the only one to see her for what she was. A freak! And then, she met that Potter, and then she had your sister and then you a year later, and I knew you two would be the same. Just as strange, just as... abnormal. She then, if you please, she went and got herself blown up and we got landed with you two!"
"Blown up? You told us our parents died in a car crash!"
"A car crash? A car crash kill Lily and James Potter?"
Dudley picked up Harry's cake and went to the back and started to eat the cake.
"We had to say something"
"It's an outrage! It's a scandal!"
"They will not be going"
"Oh? And I suppose a great Muggle like yourself's gonna stop them are you?"
"Muggle?"
"Non-magic folk. These two had their name down ever since they were born! They are going to the finest school of Witchcraft and Wizardry in the world and they'll be under the finest headmaster that Hogwarts has ever seen.. Albus Dumbledore"
"I'll not pay to have some crackpot old fool teach them magic tricks!"
"Never... Insult Albus Dumbledore, in front of me" Hagrid said and then gave Dudley a rat tail since he was eating Harry's cake.
The Dursleys started to scream and ran after Dudley when he walked away from. Hagrid looked at the two siblings and winked at them with a smile.
"Well, ahem, I'd appreciate if, if you two didn't tell anyone at Hogwarts about that. Strictly speaking, I'm not allowed to do magic"
"Okay," Harry said and nodded while Iris nodded also.
Hagrid then looked at the time. "Ooh, we're a bit behind schedule. Best be off" Hagrid then moved the door and fell back to the ground. "Unless you two rather stay of course. Hmm?"
