Running is an artform

Anna Franchetti had been running for as long as she could remember, she keeps her bag packed under her bed, she had many names, many different personas and hairstyles she can barely remember who she was any more.

How can one person run as long as she has without even knowing who it is she is running from?

Her mother died when she was six, she barely has any memory of her now, just a faint feeling of love and a vague memory of dancing in the kitchen, that fateful night her father collected her from her mothers house and took her to Italy. She'd never really met her father until then. He was just someone who would ring at Christmas and birthdays, but she'd never really spent time with him until then.

Anna loved being in Italy, she grew up in a tiny town called Cocconato in north Italy, she loved it, she lived in a town house with her Papa, there was always people around which she loved, she learnt Italian and ate all the most amazing food, she was home schooled but she never felt like she missed out as there were children in the house all the time! Her Papas friends were always around, especially his best friend Antonio, he was like her Uncle, she loved him, he told the best stories and later as she got older, shared the odd bottle of wine with her and Papa, sharing stories of them growing up.

It wasn't until she got older that she realised what her Papa did for work wasn't entirely legal, nieve of her for sure, but she loved her life and didn't think it was odd to have all these people in it, that they called him boss, she never noticed the guns until she was about 17, she asked and her Papa told her it was something he doesn't want her be a part of, so she stopped asking. She was 18 when she had no choice but to be a part of it, she came home from her weekend job, she worked in the local hotel, she loved it, it was owned by a brother and sister from Germany and they treated her like family, she'd worked late as there was a wedding, but when she returned home that night the house was in darkness, windows were smashed, her stomach dropped when she walked through the hallway to find blood, bodies were everywhere, her friends, people she'd grown up with were lying on the ground. Anna slowly walked through the house shouting for her Papa, she found him lying in a pool of blood in front of his study, a single gunshot to the head.

Sceaming until she was horse, not caring that anyone else was in the house that might do this to her, Anna felt her whole world collapse around her. Antonio found her, and she fell into his arms crying. She had no idea for how long, it was him that told her the truth, her Papa was head of a mafia family, he left her mother to keep her safe, but after her death he had no choice buto bring her there, he tried to keep her hidden from his enemies but they found him, they had a rat, maybe more then one, it was lucky she was not home, they would be searching for her and she needs to run. He would try and come for her if he could, but for now, he has to stay to help pick up what was left of the family.

He handed her a bank card telling her it was a secret account that won't be tracked. He gave her a letter from her father that he told her to read later. She got changed and packed a small bag, she hugged him and he told her to run. A car would drive her over the border to France, where she could get to plane. She looked at her home, her life from the car window. Her heart breaking more when she saw the sadness in Antonio's eyes.

This is where her life changed forever. She's been running for the last four years.
