What Lies Beyond... (Story #3)
I peered through my silver infused eye. Yellow lights resembling flashlights peered down at me. An immense navy-black curtain was supporting the radiating orbs as they materialised out of patience. A tear in the inky curtain revealed a glowing wedge which increased in size, every coming.
I would watch the whole episode perpetually until their prudent flickering would abscond, and the dark curtain would be taken down to be replaced with an azure one.
I pushed my telescope to its initial appearance. The silver infused instrument was the solitary way of channelling my wonder into being. Fascination of the world beyond, not just on the one exclusive planet. My thoughts wander into the belief of existence somewhere in the stretch of demise which separates something from nothingness.
Our world had devised machines that could forage the endless obliviation searching for the outlandish beat that our world could not escape. Scientists engaged in the sciences of nano-technology, cognitive, and astronomy. These sciences were being developed, and conveyed to the entities of this world.
Though progress was progressing at an unnerving rate, the science of astronomy was unfinished, and was not one of dependance. Scientists were constantly perplexed at the thought of extraterrestrials inhabiting other planets. The mere thought of it sometimes caused ‘forgetness of the task’
The wonder of space entwined me, and I could not hold back the fantasy of ascending into space. However it may be done, the goal has to be accomplished. Whether it be blackmail, deceiving, or even murder, I could not let myself be debilitated by the desire of the community.
My viewing station lay upon a rocky foundation. An attribute of the station was its 360 view which allowed me to perceive the subtlest of movements among the expanse of never-ending night. I was always on the watch for life amongst the planets that circled ours. Aliens from other planets.
Questions also clouded my brain like an endless storm. Questions, asking were there aliens? Where would they be? And most importantly would they be amiable, or would they commence a violent hostility that would spread propaganda throughout the government causing an uprising, which might even result in bloodshed.
The government could not afford to be a victim to a revolution because it would diminish the quantity of soldiers. The whole country could go into chaos. Evacuation plans had been one of the dominant topics to be discussed at meetings, which were for the ones of noble blood. None of which I had.
Each family had been set up with emergency packs to supply the necessary commodities to help preserve the family for the establishment of the next generation. I was alone in this world without a place. But a purpose I had. Find aliens and rise to a higher position. Find the aliens with colourless skin, two arms, two legs and two eyes that pierced into your soul. What a wonder, I thought as I looked down at my five arms, and my green hued body.
