I remember asking how you and your family were doing when the riots started. Back then it was your sister who was writing me, but unfortunately, I did not share the same enthusiasm with my letters. Besides, shortly after she had taken in a lover other than the fact that we don’t share the same interests. You and I barely talked and I was just really concerned about what was going on in your corner of the world and of course, to ensure your safety. You replied with a grim message, telling me that it was bad and that you were cooped up inside the house until everything subsided outside. Nevertheless, you ended up safe and that was what I was after.

So I guess, even from the start without any thought to it I’ve always cared about you. You said that I caught your attention back when we first met for a walk along the boulevard beside the sea. The wind picked our hair up, I was awkward and did my best to keep the conversation going for you and your sister. I’m sure you remember it as well as I do. I don’t know what compelled me to write tonight but I knew I had to when I saw my typewriter after a long day in the office. Here I am rambling about things in the past as I write from your future being ahead of you by fifteen hours. Forgive me as this is the first letter I have ever written in personal regard and it might be a tad formal for something I’m sending to a dear friend. I don’t want to waste any of my ink because going to the store for more has always been tiring for me, so I leave you with a promise of doing better for the next one.

I have no guarantee if you’ll ever write back nor do I have any idea how long it would take for me to receive your letter if ever you do write back but I will understand and respect your choice either way. On a lighter note, I have seen the new Superman movie today and was blown away by the new villains straight out of the comics. I know I’m a day ahead of you so I won’t spoil anything to you, but it’s not like this letter’s arriving for you the very next day but still, I would like to hear your thoughts about it being an avid fan like me. I’m sure you have interesting takes and have questions as well. I may rewatch it a second, maybe even a third time just to appreciate it again.

Anyway, I better get going and would like to conclude this letter by asking how you’ve been and to confess that you have been in my mind lately and that’s the real reason I wanted to write you. Recently the memory of our brief time together by the boulevard has been nagging at me and I have come to the decision that I would very much like more of that. More of you and your company.

Always a friend,

Jordan Elliot
