After the end of the world

Dear Journal,

My leg hurts, I cant stop crying because it hurts so much. Miss Conners has tried to apply a bandage but it just turned red and my body is covered in bruises that hurt when I poke them with my finger.

We are safe inside my classroom with some other students as Miss Conners blocked the door with chairs and covered the windows with our drawings which was nice of her.

Oh I forgot, Miss Conners always told me to write my name down as its a way to introduce yourself.

My name is Isabell, I'm 8 years old and I go to Goose Hill school, which is where I am currently in.

As I am writing this, Miss Conners told us to " Not leave this classroom unless specifically told to by me" which makes sense as she is the adult but I want to know why we can not go outside and why there is a lot of screaming?

That is all I can write for now, hopefully I will be able to write again tomorrow.

Dear Journal,

I could not wait anymore to write this but Ken, a classmate who can be what Miss Conners calls hot headed, snuck out of the classroom by a window to get some food.

As everyone was sleeping and Miss Conners was watching the stack of chairs by the door, I followed him only minutes later. Outside the class room was the playground, which was still full of our chalk drawings but there was red covering everything.

The cold touched my body as I started to walk around, I whispered Kens name but nothing until I heard movement from the older kids building.

I was scared as the older kids were much bigger than I am but in one of the classroom windows I saw Ken's red cap on the window.

I started to walk into the building climbing in through a broken glass door. The lights were flicking and people were just lying on the floor. They seemed to be sleeping even though their eyes were open.

I walked down the hallway feeling puddles of red on my feet which made me want to throw up but it was not the worst part.

Near where the hallways linked together, was someone kneeling over a person. They made squelching sounds which was weird but then the strangest thing happened.

They got to their feet as I called them out asking " Do you know were Ken is?"

The person seemed like a teacher but their clothes were covered in the same red as my bandage. Their neck went to the side to side as I started to walk back.

"I am sorry for disturbing you" I said as he started to walk to me, I turned around and ran with the teacher following me. I could hear him growling and the puddles getting splashed around.

I turned into a classroom and opened the door, I got inside the classroom but I heard the teacher hit the door with his hands.

I could not stop crying and being scared but then the teacher seemed to go silent. As I looked through the door's window I could not see anything as it was red.

The door handle started to turn down, I couldn't stop it as the door opened. I saw the janitor, Mr Hargreaves, he was covered in the red but from what I could see just behind him as he shut the door behind him was the teacher on the floor not moving.

As he walked in, I saw he was holding onto what seemed to be 2 broomsticks in his hands but it was only the handles.

Mr Hargreaves started to ask questions like " Why are you here?" and " Are you okay?" I answered them honestly as tears started to come out of my eyes.

I hugged him but I do not remember much after that but Mr Hargreaves said that I fell asleep from being tired so I trust him enough as he gave me his cassette player to listen to his music while he made sure the room was safe.

It is time to sleep again as its past my bed time. Hopefully tomorrow will not be as intense as today was.
