July Prologue
July has arrived and everyone has four days to prepare for Independence Day. Where people go to celebrate is up to them. A lot of times, you go to the lake or even the beach to celebrate. You also might enjoy visiting a historical site that happened during the American Revolution. Or you could take in a sporting event like baseball or the hot dog eating contest.
You can enjoy the day like it’s a national holiday even if the day might happen to be on a weekday. You can enjoy the traditional grilling of hot dogs, hamburgers, and have ice cream as a dessert. For other enjoyments, there are some concerts, culminating in the glorious firework show. Whether you watch them in public or at a private gathering, you’re enjoying the company of friends and family. Or, in the unfortunate case of our next two people, the worst person you can think of.
July: Leslie Grant and Perry Austin
Leslie Grant and Perry Austin have two things in common: both play collegiate sports for Alabama schools and both live in Alabama. But that’s where the comparison ends. Leslie is the star volleyball player at the University of Alabama while Perry is a golfer for Auburn University. For most of their lives, the two have always gone down to Alabama’s beaches for every Independence Day. Yet, because of the rivalry of the schools and because of a previous incident, the two can’t say they were ever best of friends.
The two find themselves on board a yacht full of party goers, which isn’t normally Perry’s scene. Yet, a stormy situation suddenly finds themselves off course and lost in the water. Determined to get back in time for the fourth of July, the two will have to work together while burying the hatchet of the incident in question. Along the way, they will both realize that having a companion to work through the crisis can also be a great thing to have.
