I was ten when my parents gave voice recorder for my birthday, I was very happy even I couldn’t contain my excitement when I have my own voice recorder, to talk about anything which I do even my parents always say I was a chatter box (which is still is true by the way.) Ten old me let out a smile as I press the button to start recording my voice.
“Hello! This is Ume and her hmm maybe I should say diary! YEAH, hehe anyways now I’m ten years old so I will tell people my day or life story. I bet some think why a ten-year-old wants a voice recorder, well let me tell you my parents tell me that I’m always a chatter box when I was toddler. And now hear that me talking hehe!”
“Ume! Time to blow your candles!”
“Awe I have to go blow my candles now but don’t worry they will still more to go on my journey.” I finishes recording my voice as I put the recorder down on my bed as I bounce off the bed as I go straight down to blow my candles.
As I make way where I see cousin, uncles and aunts and off course my parents as I sit down on the chair as I watch the fire dancing across my green eyes as I hear everyone singing happy birthday song while they finish the song, I close my eyes and wish which is my journey and dream is just the beginning and I can’t wait to see what’s out there of Chicago.
I took a deep breath and blow the candles as everyone claps and whistles saying happy birthday to me!
I open my eyes and smile at them as my cousin- Samuel aka Sam for short or for me I call him Sammy even though his 12 years old totally not jealous or anything, “Wow cuz your finally ten now! How does it feel?”
I roll my eyes at him while Sammy been push off by his own little brother- Sebastian aka Seb while for me I call him Sebby like it be interesting for the near future and the same age as me, “Yay now we’re both ten, Ume?”
I smile at him as I reply “Yeah but his Sammy okay though.” As I turn to look at Sammy who pouting at his little brother who push him, Sebby looks at his older brother and then shrug not sure.
Sebby replies to his brother “I’m sorry Sam for pushing you.” Sebby looks guilty while Sammy grins up at his little brother.
“Its fine, your excited that Ume is same age as you after all.” Sammy responds to his baby brother.
“Does its really matter?”
Sammy, Sebby and I turn and saw our other cousin with black hair and blue eyes of pony tail, a freshman in high school- Amelia who is 13 years old, than us three even though we have big family after all, we are half Mexican well that what I would think anyway? I tilt my head at Amelia confuse.
Ameila saw our reaction as she shakes her head then sigh and reply “Age doesn’t define whose oldest or youngest.” She crosses her arms around her chest like a boss for some reason.
Sammy reply “Huh, I don’t get it.”
We hear a chuckle and saw Carlos, with blonde hair and hazel eyes who is in Sophomore and next to Carlos is Daniel, with brown hair and grey eyes who is also in same year as Carlos as they went to us. “Amelia, they don’t understand maybe when they’re older.” Replied Carlos as he said this to his younger sister.
Daniel ruffles my hair “Hey birthday girl! Your now ten!” Daniel grins at me while pout at him for doing that to my hair.
“Danny!” I whine at him.
“Awe is our baby sister is now ten.” My green eyes sparkle as I hear my older brother voice as I turn to jump at Juan, black hair and blue eyes who is in junior.
“JUAN!”
“HEY! WHAT ABOUT ME!?” I turn to see similar face a twin of Juan as I leap off Juan arms as he blinks at what just happen, to be arms of Javier while I giggle at dumb folded face that Juan is making even the rest either chuckle and giggles at the sight.
Juan and Javier roll their eyes in sync but have a smile on their faces as Javier then grins down at me, “Well, seems like the birthday girl giggling here. Maybe I should-“
I leap down from his arms as I run while Javier trying to catch me while us younger kids run along with me as the older tries to get us, as laughter fills the room.
Time went by I was talking on my voice recorder of how me been and my birthday as I finish and lay on my bed to sleep into dream land as I smile.
