Part 1

Looking into the mist He watches as it moves like the ocean. Within it there are scenes of war and destruction between humans, but the most unsettling one is the one of figures rising from dark shadows before a huge cloud of smoke comes rushing in and wipes out everything it touches and there seem to be nothing left. There are no sounds within these scenes. Which makes it more unsettling.

Then another scene takes over. A slight sigh escapes Him as the scene that has been dancing within it ends, and the mist disappears down into the water again. It’s always the same. A woman He has never seen and His spies can never seem to find. Watching the waterfall run down from the bearded stone man’s mouth that hangs on the wall, He looks into its empty black eyes.

“I’m sorry, Father. I don’t understand what you want me to do with this information. You have been showing me this over and over, but I have been unsuccessful in finding her.” The face isn’t moving as usual. Yet still it seems like there’s a very small light inside the right eye, but when He looks closer, it’s gone.

There’s the occasional mist that are showing different images. Mostly about the war. But now it seems silent.

He sighs again and is about to turn away as a sudden mist rises up again. The scene usually ends after the red headed woman is swinging her sword. She always dies, one way or another and this time is no different.

When the scene is over and the mist seems to have settled, it quickly rises again and shows another scene and this time together with sound. Another woman with dark brown curls and bright brown eyes screams in pain. The ground around her looks rocky, it doesn’t seem to be frequently used and she is surrounded by tall green trees. The full moon is shining behind her.

Leaning against one of the trees she holds a hand over her stomach, hunched over. Wet from sweat she takes a deep breath before starting to run again. Or rather walk as fast as she can.

Tears are running down her cheeks and the look of despair and fear in her eyes makes Him wonder who is after her. But then He notices her stomach under her robe. He’s watching in concern for the woman, having a small guess of what might be happening. Then the image changes.

“Shame!” A bald man says to a group of people who are standing around him. “She has cast shame upon Akam!”

“Akam?” He asks no one in particular. What does he have to do with this? He wonders until He notices who is talking. It’s a monk of the religion that is following the stone god Akam, one of Naruena’s the nature God’s sons.

“Find her and bring the halfling!” The monk yells to his people following him.

His guess was right. Although there hasn’t been one of those in ages.

“Bring them back. Find her. We can’t let anyone know that one of ours has been with someone other than someone from our people. Find her, and that little abomination.” The monk says.

The scene changes again and the woman is now kneeling on the ground. She bites her teeth together but can’t stop small screams from escaping. She casts a look behind her and she sighs in relief, but she still seem to want to continue. As she tries to get up the pain is pulling her back down. The baby is coming, and there is nothing she can do about it.

“Why are you...” He starts to ask but the image ends and there is only white mist left. Then the voice of a man, He wants to guess it’s the monk’s voice, but it sounds different, echoes through the library.

“Find her. Find the halfling!”
