Are you just a poison that I shouldn't use?

Brae’s POV:
“ You can't just run away with this guy! It’s…it's insane! Mom would flip out!”
My sister would protest as I was throwing clothes into a suitcase, grabbing my favorite pillow & small throw blanket he had made for me.
I would though, I would go anywhere with Ash & honestly no one could stop me.
I just turned 18 so legally, my mom couldn’t do anything. It’s not like she would anyway.
I threw Ash’s hoodie in my bag & threw it on my shoulder.
“In all honesty Riley, I don't really care. She’s too worried about her boyfriend & work. I doubt she’ll even notice I’m gone. Plus, you know I’ve been saving up to move away from here. After you graduate I'll come back if you change your mind by then. Ash has the manor with the guys, there’s more than enough room.”
“ I thought I felt my ears burning.” Ash’s tall stacher stood in my doorway, dark hair falling in his eyes, his tattooed hand brushing it out of his gaze. “ Need me to grab anything Brae?” I’d move to kiss my sister’s cheek, handing her a wad of cash.
“Keep that for yourself, promise. And, stay with Becca when mom has her nights out. Please.”
“Yea my suitcase baby, thank you.” I put my book bag on, handing her one of my hoodies she’d always steal from my closet.
“I’m only two states away, I’ll call when we get there I promise. Keep your phone on you.”
She’d walk out with us, my best friends Aletha and Hayelyn long for the ride. They both graduated from high school & this was their last adventure before they had to figure out what they wanted to do with their life.
& Of course, their boyfriends Bowie & Cassius. Bowie, Hayelyn & I grew up together & the other guys were always very protective to all us girls involved with them.
Riley wouldn’t let me go as I walked out with everyone, not that I minded.
I’d turn around looking at the huge stone castle I called my home for the last eighteen years. The stone walls that kept me in & kept me studying. That got me out of this place. & I was determined to come back & get my sister out of all this madness. It wasn’t that our life was bad, it was more that dad was a senator & mom was his doting wife that had her thing on the side. But when dad passed, things changed & I couldn’t stay there anymore.
I’d sniffle hugging our housekeeper. She was more of a mother than my own mother was. Throwing my stuff in the front seat of Ash’s truck after he opened the door for me. He’d take my hand helping me climb in because I’m 5’2 & his truck was practically a monster truck. It wasn’t really but I was tiny, everything was bigger than me.
I’d roll the window down, watching my best friends hug my sister & housekeeper before climbing into their own boyfriend's trucks, of course Ash’s truck being the leader, making their 2 and a half day trip to the manor in California. As Ash drove up the driveway, the girls & I would all stick our heads out the window waving at Riley, I would feel Ash’s hand on my leg, I’d sniffle turning to give him a reassuring smile as I scrunch up my nose at him buckling up. “ Can we get food before we head out? Your babies gonna need fuel & coffee if I’m to keep you awake while you drive mister & I’m sure the girls wanna do the same thing.” I’d giggle speaking into the microphone of my phone & both the girls in unison agreed. “So, coffee & tacos?” Ash would grab my hand bringing it to his lips kissing softly as we went to our two favorite spots before leaving town. “Anything for my girl. Still can’t believe you’re moving with me, finally.” I’d wink at him as I grabbed my throw blanket wrapping it around my waist & slipping Ash’s hoodie over my head, throwing my dark hair into a messy bun. Ash always loved it when I wore my hair like that. It reminded him of whenever I’d paint. He had always told me that’s when he knew he loved me. Not when I was all dolled up for him, but when I was comfortable, in my most vulnerable state. So, I made sure to paint as often as I could.
That was another reason why I was moving to California with everyone. I got accepted into one of the best design schools, so it made perfect sense for me to move out there. I’d have my school, my best friends & the boy I’m so in love with. Things couldn’t be better.
to be continued.
