Ophelia

Another week done, I feel my days are slowly morphing into one as I pack up my desk for the week. I walk towards my boss’s office and knock, waiting to hear the familiar grunt of approval. “Sir here are the files you requested, I have color coded them for ease of reading and I have also included a little background information on the new potential clients.” I wait for some kind of acknowledgment of my hard work but I’m met with the usual no response. I inwardly roll my eyes and call my boss an asshole, I was a hard worker and always went above and beyond for him but never got any kind of recognition for it, a thank you wouldn’t hurt.

I tell him to have a good weekend and I go back to my desk and grab my bag to leave, giving my desk one more once over to make sure I haven’t left anything. As I walk towards my car I can’t help but dread the weekend, don’t get me wrong I don’t have a bad life by any means, there’s just no excitement and I can’t help but feel something is missing. I have an amazing boyfriend, Ryan, he is every woman’s dream with his boyish grin, piercing light green eyes and shaggy brown hair and he always makes sure I’m taken care of. We have been together for around 5 years now, we met in college and he was my first real boyfriend, my family adore him and I his family. We bought our first house 3 years ago and it was perfect at the start but then reality hit and we fell into a routine we would stick to for years to come. My weekends consist of grocery shopping, reading or going for long walks by myself, Ryan is often busy with friends or doing anything car related so I’m left to enjoy my own company.

I just crave some kind of passion from him, we have sex every 2 weeks, if I’m lucky, which is hard for someone with a very high sex drive I might add. I’ve tried spicing things up with sexy lingerie, little sex games or sending naughty texts while he’s at work but I either get gently turned down or the sex is very vanilla, even our sex life is a routine. I just don’t understand why he isn’t interested, I’m not a model of course but I’m a good looking woman. I have thick, wavy brunette hair, icey blue eyes, curves in the right places and big boobs.

I stop by the store before I get home and by ingredients to make steak and potatoes, Ryan’s favourite. I’m looking through the steaks when all of a sudden I smell the most intoxicating scent I have ever smelt. Sandalwood and fresh pine. I look around to find the cause of the delicious smell but I don’t see anything. Hm weird, must be a candle. I get to the checkout and I smell it again, I’m looking around like a mad woman but this smell is drawing me in and I can’t help myself. The cashier pulls me out of my searching to tell me my total, I pay and take my bags to my car and drive home.
