Chapter 1
"Ani!! Come down here!", Uncle calls my sister.
My older sister looked at me in horror as if her worst nightmare was infront of her . I never understood why my sister was so terrified of our uncle, I always asked her but she always told me "I just get startled, that's why" but I was as stupid as a donkey and I didn't believe her lies . So I decided to follow her behind, since she always refused that I follow her. I tiptoed behind her as slow as a snail so that, she couldn't see me. As I followed her, I decided to watch them from the steps. I didn't want to get too close for me to get found out. I saw Ana walking slowly and full of fear towards uncle. As she got close, uncle stood up and walked towards her. Ana froze. Uncle began to sniff Ana's hair followed by her dress all the way to her feet.
I stood there shocked wondering what was going on. The idea of jumping in and taking the niche of wonderwoman came to mind but I realised that at school I was like a rabbit in a pack of wolves, surely I wouldn't be able to defend my sister in this situation. I continued to watch them helplessly.
Uncle : Have you taken the pills?
Ana : Yes, I took it in the dose that you told me to.
Uncle : Good, make sure that Ani sleeps early tomorrow. Before 7:30 pm she should already be in bed.
Ana : Yes, Uncle.
Uncle : Good, now go sleep.
I quickly tiptoed to the room and pretended that I was sleeping. It didn't take long for Ana to enter the room. She slowly walked towards me, she then sat on my bed and she slowly caressed my head. For a moment, she sat frozen as a statue lost in thoughts (well I guess, I don't really know if she was thinking but, I felt like she was just lost in her thoughts). She then stood up and went to sleep. I couldn't stop thinking about what I heard. I had no idea what to do and couldn't sleep.
Next morning I got up and got ready for school. I went early so that I wouldn't come face to face with uncle. I wasn't in the mood to see his face, after everything that happened last night it was better not to see him. The day went well, I guess. I didn't socialise with my friends or classmates, I just wanted to be alone. I was still thinking about what I could do to spy on uncle and Ani. I didn't even have an idea of what was going on but, I was bound to find out. At hometime Ani shouted out my name. I wanted to ignore her and just walk home by myself but I realised that it wasn't her fault. I shouldn't be rude to her but at uncle so I stopped.
Ani : Hey! I didn't see you the whole day and you didn't even wait for me.
Ana : I ... uhm... I just decided to come early. I had some homework to do.
She looked askance at me and just said okay . The walk home was quiet and I was busy thinking about how to follow uncle and Ani. I was so busy thinking about my plan that I couldn't hear Ani calling me.
Ani : Ana! Ana! Ana! Ana!
She said as she shook me back to my senses.
Ana : Yeah, what's wrong?
Ani: I've been calling you for like 2 minutes straight.
Ana : Oh, 2 minutes?
I was shocked, that I've been lost in thoughts for 2 minutes.
Ani : So, what were you thinking about?
Ana : Just homework that's all, it's just a bit hard.
I said with awkward smile.
She just shook her head and we started walking back home. I was happy that my Dad was coming in two weeks. Meaning uncle wouldn't be around for a month or two. With the two weeks left I had to find out what was going on, I knew that asking my sister would be like flocking a dead horse so I had to take matters into my own hand.
