Itachi’s day might start like any other, but it hadn’t been like that for a while now. That’s because every time he tried to date someone of the opposite sex, nothing went completely wrong. On the contrary, everything went completely wrong, as if to spite him, causing every date to end in a disaster.
Of course, he swore it wasn’t his fault, but neither of them would believe him. The black-haired man didn’t blame her, but it was slowly starting to irritate him. At first, he had no clue what was causing his dating disasters.
„Damn him!,” Itachi growled under his breath, right after realizing who was really behind his terrible dates.
He could have expected anything and anyone, but not that Madara Uchiha himself was behind it! Although, if you looked at it from a different perspective, the only person capable of such a thing was him. Even Obito, who pretended to be crazy, wasn’t capable of such a deliberate act.
He sighed quietly and looked up at the blue sky, trying to organize his chaotic thoughts. He was incredibly furious with him for this very reason. And he wanted to strangle him with his bare hands, but then again, if he did, who would become the new head of the organization?
Because of that, he had to erase that option from his to-do list. In any case, he couldn’t let him manipulate him, he was one hundred percent sure of that! That’s why he decided to talk to him about it. Because it was the only way Itachi could understand why he was behaving this way towards him.
„I hope it does any good...,” Itachi added under his breath, not entirely convinced it would do any good.
So he went to talk to him, but as we all know, it didn’t help. No wonder he was in such a foul mood. Right after he got the news that today’s date was canceled. And he didn’t know when she’d be able to meet up with him after all. It seemed like she’d suddenly changed her mind and wanted nothing to do with him. This was the final straw for him, and he felt like he was about to completely break down.
„Come on, chill out! Maybe you’ll find someone soon!,” Kisame said after a moment, trying to lift his spirits.
Which wasn’t easy for Kisame, as he’d never been in a relationship before. Consequently, he had no idea how to go about it. However, that didn’t mean Kisame hadn’t tried! And that was the truth, and there was nothing he could do about it.
„GOOD BYE!,” Itachi said suddenly, rising from the bench he was currently sitting on with him.
„Am I wrong about that?,” Kisame asked after a moment, not quite understanding his sudden outburst.
„You don’t understand anything!,” Itachi announced after a moment, glaring at him reproachfully.
„Before I answer you, sit down first, we’re drawing attention!,” Kisame replied, simultaneously implying that they shouldn’t draw attention.
If they didn’t want to be noticed, then they shouldn’t really be here. Only after Kisame’s words did Itachi realize what he was actually doing. So, Itachi quickly returned to his seat before speaking to him. Because he didn’t want to draw any more attention to himself.
„You’re absolutely right about that, I shouldn’t have done it, but I have no energy left for him! I don’t understand why he’s acting this way towards me!,” Itachi blurted out what had been on his mind for a while.
He knew Kisame wasn’t the ideal person for such conversations, but he had no other choice, because only he could calmly discuss it with him. Although, if he had a choice, he probably wouldn’t have discussed it with him. Kisame simply sighed at Itachi’s words, focusing his gaze on the ground for a moment.
He was perfectly aware of how utterly inadequate he was for this conversation. Which didn’t mean he wasn’t trying to help his partner! Finally, a thought flashed through his mind that he was afraid to voice. It was because it was so absurd, yet so possible.
„I don’t blame you for thinking that! If I were you, I’d think the same!,” Kisame finally spoke, hoping his tone didn’t betray his thoughts.
Itachi looked at him at that moment, a question mark etched on his face. It was because he didn’t quite understand what he’d just said. That’s why he answered as he did, because he had no other choice, because he had to get something out of him somehow.
„What are you trying to insinuate?,” Itachi asked after a moment, not beating around the bush at all.
He felt in his bones that his partner was trying to hide his true thoughts. He just hadn’t expected Itachi to read between the lines. Which was unlikely for a while, as he usually ignored it. It must have really affected him; he couldn’t think of any other explanation.
„I’m not insinuating anything, you think!,” Kisame huffed after a moment, trying desperately to appear as if he wasn’t insinuating anything.
„Sure, I’ll believe you,” Itachi snorted irritably, not wanting to take his word for it.
On the other hand, he was afraid of it. Something inside him told him he suspected what he was thinking. Although he might actually be wrong about that. Regardless, he decided to ask, because how else was he supposed to find out? It wasn’t easy, because Madara had already gotten under his skin. It was slowly starting to irritate him, and there was nothing he could do about it.
„Believe me, I’m not insinuating anything!,” Kisame rambled on, each time revealing more and more that something was actually going on.
„I can see that something is. So why are you swearing otherwise?,” Itachi asked after a moment, unwilling to give up.
He knew perfectly well that Kisame wouldn’t just reveal what he’d been thinking about for a long time. Kisame knew his partner wouldn’t just let him go, wouldn’t reveal what he’d just thought of. After all, he had no other choice but to reveal it, and yet he had no idea how Kisame would react to this revelation.
„Fine... Just don’t kill me for this, okay?,” Kisame announced after a long silence, hoping it wouldn’t come to blows.
„How am I supposed to kill you for something if you haven’t told me yet?,” Itachi replied questioningly, his eyes widening.
Because that was the truth, and there was nothing Itachi could do about it. Truthfully, he wanted to get this conversation over with. Which, as it turned out, wasn’t going to happen, and that only made him even more irritated. Which was somewhat understandable, considering what he’d heard.
„Just promise me you won’t get mad at me, okay?,” Kisame repeated his words, wanting to make sure he wouldn’t hurt him.
At the sound of those words, Itachi felt like doing something, but at the last minute he changed his mind and stayed where he was. This was because he didn’t want to draw the attention of the villagers to them. Therefore, all he could do was calm down and wait for his partner to say something. Finally, he spoke up, knowing that if he didn’t swear not to speak to him, he wouldn’t say anything.
„I swear I won’t get mad at you! Is that okay?,” Itachi finally replied, wanting to strangle him for that idiotic remark.
Now all he had to do was hope that the words he’d just spoken would be enough for him. Kisame remained silent for a moment, as if he were reassuring himself whether he should actually say them. He closed his eyes briefly and counted to ten before speaking, opening his own eyes as he did so and looking at him.
„I think Madara has feelings for you. That’s why he’s acting so strangely towards your conquests!,” Kisame finally announced, blurting out what he’d been thinking for a while.
His words were followed by a silence that could have been cut with a knife. All that could be heard were the buzz of conversation, the sounds of vehicles, and so on. Which implied that they must have had a profound effect on the dark-eyed man. And he was absolutely right about that, because Itachi wondered for a long moment if he’d heard correctly. That was because there was no way Madara had feelings for him. But then again, the more he thought about it, the more certain he was that something was actually happening.
„Are you one hundred percent sure?,” Itachi broke the silence, asking him a question to make sure.
Kisame sighed again at the sound of those words, because he had actually expected them. Which was somewhat understandable, but he still hadn’t expected the words to have such an impact on his partner. If he had known, he probably would have said them differently.
„Yes, I’m one hundred percent sure that Madara has fallen in love with you and is jealous because of it,!” Kisame confirmed his words, slightly pulling away from him so he could run away in time.
That’s why he didn’t want to say them out loud! Because he knew how strange they were. At the sound of Kisame’s confirmation, Itachi sighed quietly and lowered his head for a moment. He hadn’t expected that he hadn’t misheard. Consequently, his suspicions had long been confirmed.
It’s no wonder his dates weren’t working out. Because subconsciously, he was searching for something Madara had in them. With each thought, he was more and more certain that he felt something for Madara, too. But it was only thanks to this conversation that he realized he did feel something for him.
„Now that’s news! Who would have expected something like that from him, let alone me?,” Itachi suddenly announced, oblivious to the fact that he’d spoken the words aloud.
