Zuri
I woke to the sunlight streaming through the gaps of my curtain and a wide smile spread on my face . It was the first day of school . Not that I'm geek but i do get good grades in school but that's not why im excited , it's the beginning of the school year meaning there's cheerleading tryouts soon and I've always wanted to join my mum was also a cheerleader and looking at her old albums makes me want to have the same smile on my face that she has in her pictures.
I want our bond to be stronger mostly because unfortunately for me my mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer and despite all the efforts they put in to save they are saying that she just a few months to live . Although i try to console myself that it won't hurt as much because she's gonna die i know it's gonna hurt terribly because i will have to get used to the fact that she won't be here anymore.
I can't be sad on the first day of school so i push the thought of her leaving away and get up and head to my bathroom where i take a relaxing hot shower and then do my skincare routine and after dress in my school uniform . " Sweetheart come down or you're gonna be late! " I hear my Dad call just as i finish putting on my blazer .
I find Dad serving Mom then he pecks her forehead. I love their relationship and honestly, i would want something similar to how it is . I grab my pancakes and eat fast because i know Kiara will be here any minute. " Baby slow down or youre gonna choke ," Mom reprimands me while she wipes the sides of my mouth.
Even though cancer is kicking her ass she still manages to look so beautiful and i can't help but wish we had more time together. She notices my sad look and caresses my cheek in loving way to reassure me everything will be fine although i know it won't and it will never be .
Just then i hear a car honk outside and i know Kiara is here for me . I kiss Mom on the forehead and Dad kisses me on the cheek before i head out and find Kiara leaning on the car . Kiara is my new friend who we met iver summer break and we've been inseperable ever since, i actually consider her my best friend.
" You ready to crush today? " She asks me with the widest smile that radiates her sparkling white teeth on her dark skin. I especially love her curly which is voluminous and beautiful. Black is beautiful.
I get into the car and we are off . While on the road motorbike speeds past and almost causes us to crush . Without thinking about it I find myself sticking my head and yelling ," Jerk! ," I could swear i saw him glance behind him but he didn't stop .
Kiara grabs my hand," Calm down Zuri let's just get school . Thankfully nothing happened to anyone. We finally arrive at the school gates but we have to wait because many cars are in line but suddenly the same motorbike from earlier speeds oast all the cars and is allowed to enter but before he enters he takes off his helmet and i hear Kiara gasp. "Do you know who that is Zuri? " I look at her," An annoying prick?" I say my voice dripping of sarcasm .
" That's Kade Bassett! " She says with so much excitement. " Who?" I ask confused. She looks at me in disbelief. " Do you live under a rock or something?"
I choose to ignore her comment and soon we are in and i see Kade looking at me with didain . Well this semester started well .
