Chapter I

I always thought my dad was my hero and my mom was my savior but, now I’m living in a studio apartment in New York with my best friend, I’m starting to realize everything my mom said was right... Thinking about it now the littlest things in my childhood made me so damn angry, like, having to do the dishes, getting yelled at for making the wrong Kool-aid, or getting smacked in the back of the head for not doing something right that my mom waited for Jayden to get home to say something to me...After years of living with this it became the norm and my emotions became almost nonexistent, I was yelled at or hit for being angry or for crying so, I just kind-of... Stopped feeling...

Enough about the past lets focus on the present. I’m Axel Martinez. I’m 17. I grew up in a drag strip town in Michigan and me and my friend Alice ran away to New York. We wanted to get to Canada but we needed a passport(Obviously) so, we settled for New York because we can’t just show back up at home after 16 hours of being gone and say we were out on a stroll.

I'm walking along the side walk on 5th Street on my way to mine and Alice's apartment. The apartment building we live in is gigantic(It has 15 floors!), white, and looks great in the sunset. The sunset is casting a golden glow in the sky... I should get home before Alice starts to worry about me. I reach our building and walk up the stairs to the door. The silver elevator is across the hall. I walk into the empty elevator and press the button to go to the sixth floor. I always feel uncomfortable in elevators, the small space, the weird feeling when it stops, and the overall fear of getting stuck. The elevator makes a creaking sound and stops on the sixth floor. I walk out, still feeling uneasy, to walk to our room, F66.

cbell558: Writer is very good at balancing just enough descriptive information with moving the story along. Some writers go too far with describing motivations of the characters and their mindset. Their stories move agonizing along at a snails pace. This writer gets you hooked at the beginning and keeps you ...
