Prologue
My gaze followed the trail of blood on the hard, cold stage floor, leading me to a knife lying senseless, destroying what should have been a beautiful ballet performance. My mind struggled to grasp the reality of the situation, then practically gave up as pain throbbed in my temples. The fading stage lights revealed gruesome details. Realization slammed into me like a wave crashing over common sense.
The voices in the distance grew louder, a cacophony of fear and concern that threatened to engulf me. The blurry faces of the spectators and crew came into view, their eyes wide with shock, just like mine.
A figure emerged from the shadows, a familiar face, twisted in disbelief. One hand was carefully extended. "What have you done, Joce?" Her hoarse words hung in the air, a heavy accusation that sent goosebumps down my spine.
I opened my mouth, trying to speak, but I couldn't come up with an explanation and was left with trembling lips instead. The weight of the accusation hanging over my conscience, the question echoed in my ears. I didn't know what was happening. My mind was in turmoil and I tried to reach for memories of the seconds before this tragedy occurred, searching for answers to questions I couldn't understand.
