Summary

BRYNLEE: Listen I never thought I’d be dating a serial killer, much less one off of a dating website, but here we are. In my defense I didn’t know about his activities on the side until after I fell in love with him. Now I have a dilemma: turn him in, or help him. DAMON: She was just supposed to be another one of my victims, nothing more, nothing less. She’s actually not my type, so I don’t even know why I matched with her on that stupid dating website. I know this sounds cliche, but there’s something different about her. None of that matters know because I’m stupidly in love with her, there’s just one problem, she’s knows I’m a killer. So now she has two options: turn me in, or help me. What she doesn’t know is if she doesn’t pick option one I have no choice but to add her to my list of victims.

Chapter 1 Brynlee

I'll start by saying men suck, all of them do. With that being said, I'm sitting here in my cozy Christmas pajamas, drinking my wine, setting up a dating profile. Why may you ask? I'm tired of being the only friend in my group without a man, so I'm not signing up on Bangin and Books for something serious, just casual fun for when I need a date with friends.

I thought Bangin and Books was perfect for me because I’m a serious bookworm. I’m hoping by signing up through this website I won’t get matched with any weirdos. I pick four decent pictures, and for the profile picture I make sure my boobs look great, because let’s be honest, we know what the men are here for. I figured I’d just speed up the process. I don’t really have high hopes for any of this, but I’m desperate for a date, seeing as it’s the holiday season, and all my friends are too busy with their significant others to be bothered by me.

Once my profile is made, I turn on my TV to some cheesy Christmas movie and start to relax.

Ding.

Ding.

Ding.

I picked up my phone to see what all the commotion was about. It’s rare my phone goes off that often, the only notifications I get are normally from my calendar or Facebook and neither make a noise. It turns out it was Bangin and Books, which surprised me. I already have 3 likes. I go ahead and see what I’m working with.

Contestant number one's name is Seth. He’s 6’2, works at a local bookshop, isn’t terrible looking, has a Chihuahua, and 12 cats.

“Nope.” I said out loud as I swipe left. No one needs that many cats, not to mention the ankle biter I’d be greeted by.

Contestant number two's name is Gabriel. He’s 6’0, getting his degree in microbiology, lives alone in a studio apartment, and has a full-time job at a bank.

“Nope, he’s way too smart for me, and seems like he has his life together.” I say out loud as I swipe left. Once he realizes reading smut and watching trashy reality TV is my personality, he’ll realize I did him a favor.

Contestant number three’s name is Liam. Not going to lie he’s starting off strong strictly because I like his name. He’s 6’4, lives alone, is getting his degree in nursing, 24, fit, has a husky, and isn’t too hard on the eyes.

“Screw it.” I said as I swiped right. What’s the harm that could come of it? I figured I’d text him first, but didn’t want to seem desperate, so decided to wait till morning.

It’s about 7:45 pm, so I figured I’d get in a good hour of reading before having to go to bed for work in the morning. Unlike most people, I’m not one of those people who hates having to get up for work in the morning. I actually look forward to my job. I work at Rainbow Animal Shelter. Unlike most shelters around here, it’s a no-kill shelter. Shelter isn’t exactly how I’d describe it, it’s more like a resort if you ask me.

Each animal we take in has its own room with toys, treats, and beds made especially for them. They get recess every day to play with one another, and if there are animals that don’t necessarily get along with other animals, they get what we call “cuddle time”. Cuddle time happens every day for about two hours. Each employee gets to come in and cuddle and play with the animals to show them the love and affection they deserve. We keep them as long as needed and are always looking for new owners to take them home.

I picked up my phone to look at whatever notification I had gotten. I looked at the clock and realized that it was in fact 11:45 pm. Once again, I accidentally read for four hours. Turns out the notification was from Bangin and Books. It’s way too late for me to log in and check it. It’ll have to wait till tomorrow.

From what I can see from the notification, whoever liked me is named Damon. He’s definitely not bad looking at all from what I can see in his tiny little icon.

I finished my wine, filled my pit bull, Nash’s food and water, and put my book back up. After I get the bed ready, I yell at Nash to come join me in bed.

As I lay in bed I couldn’t stop thinking about Damon. I didn’t even log in to fully see his profile, but he’s ridiculously gorgeous. I’m all giddy while lying there because I’m secretly a little excited about swiping right on him in the morning.
