Prologue

There was a time when a girl’s dream and goals in life were mostly about love.

To meet someone for the first time, someone who with just one look could make someone’s heart beat faster than usual.

But…

As time passed, those dreams and goals have changed.

Now girls dream of freedom, of independence, of having control of their destiny.

This is the lie Lucia has been telling herself for years, until now.

Now that she’s standing face to face with the man she was once obsessed with. A man she didn’t simply like but was completely infatuated by him. While she was lost in the romantic atmosphere of Paris City in the middle of a Christmas night, the night was full of stars as people swarmed the streets with conversations and laughter. It was just like in the movies, the romantic movies she hated so much because she never thought this could happen in real life. Not to her.

But there he was, Dante Davila had found her in an ocean of people. It didn’t matter how much time had passed since they saw each other after that one night they spent together. No, even before that, Dante could never mistake her silhouette.

“Lucia,” he grabbed her hand before she could run away again. The shock in her bright brown eyes was evident. Of course, she wasn’t expecting to meet him here, not after months.

“Doctor…” it was clear that she was taken aback, her heart couldn’t hide how she felt for him anymore. Not after that one night. The moment their eyes met, Lucia couldn’t help but remember that passionate night encounter despite his spiteful glare, and his constant rejection.

“Why did you leave, like that?” He asked, his eyes holding the same spiteful glare, his hold on her hand was strong. He wasn’t going to let her go anymore, not after he found her again.
