Chapter 1: I’m A Different Child

I was standing in a bright gold corridor. In front of me stood a girl who wore a light blue jacket and pink shorts stood a short distance in front of me. She didn’t look too happy. Then, she spoke.

“So you finally made it. I didn’t think you would get this far.”

I didn’t know what was going on, so I stood there and said nothing.

“When you enter the next room, you will be judged. Judged for every action. All the pain you’ve caused, and the people you’ve hurt. All of the dreams and goals you’ve brought crashing down. I have a question for you, kid.”

Her eyes turned black.

“Do you wanna have a bad time?”

She rushed at me and I woke up in a pile of flowers. I was breathing heavy and I looked around as I tried to recognize where I was at. I fell into a strange, large hole. The birds above sounded much more distant than normal. A flower appeared in front of me. I could tell it was a boy. He had a face and was smiling. He opened his mouth and spoke. He had two high-pitched voices.

“Howdy! I’m Flowey. Flowey the Flow-“

His eyes widened and he started shivering.

“Wh..who are you? You have an aura…I can’t even describe…”

I stood there. I turned and faced him.

“Tell me where I’m at, flower. If you tell me, I will spare you.”

He shivered more and looked at me. I unsheathed the claws I had hidden.

“Tell me now!”

He blinked and started talking.

“Y…you’re in…Underground…you…f-f-fell down…”

I looked at him and said nothing.

“S-say something, kid! First, I tell you that you fell down, then you don’t say anything!”

I glared at him.

“Don’t yell at me, plant!”

His eyes got wide and he went back into the ground. I heard someone walk from the right of me. I looked over and I saw a person who looked like a cross between a person and a goat. It was wearing a black and red robe.

“Are you alright?”

The figure had a feminine shape.

“Who are you?”

“My name is Toriel. I am the caretaker of the ruins underneath my house. You fell down didn’t you?”

I wanted to be polite, so I spoke in an innocent tone.

“Yes, I am.”

“Let me show you to my house. Follow me.”

She walked away and I followed her. We soon walked into a house that had white walls. The floors were made of wood. She looked at me with a warm smile.

“I wasn’t expecting company this soon. Walk down this hall.”

She grabbed my hand gently and started walking me down the hall. She stopped in front of a door.

“Here we are. This is your very own room.”

She sniffed the air and gasped.

“Is something burning? M-make yourself at home!”

She ran down the hall and turned the corner. I opened the door to the room. There was a bed, a lamp, and a closet. I laid on the bed and covered up. I closed my eyes and tried going to sleep. The dream flashed through my head. I smirked as I thought about what she said. I pretended to sleep and about twenty minutes later, I heard my door open and Toriel walked in. She had a slice of pie on a plate. She set it down and smiled. She walked out and closed the door. I opened my eyes. I got up and I started eating the pie. It was actually pretty good. I opened the door and walked down the hall where Toriel walked. She was sitting in a chair by a fireplace, reading a book about snails. I didn’t bother to read the title. She noticed I was there and she smiled at me.

“Up already, I see. Did you enjoy the pie?”

“Yes, I did.”

“Well, that’s good. What did you come to talk to me about?”

“How do I get home?”

“Wha… This is your home now.”

“When can I go home?”

“Want to hear an interesting- “

“Look, I just want to go home, please...”

She sighed and got up.

“I have something to do. Stay here.”

Toriel closed the book, set down her glasses, and walked off. I followed her and she walked downstairs. She stopped walking.

“So, you want to leave? You aren’t the first one.”

She kept walking and she made it to a turn.

“Don’t try to stop me. This is your final warning.”

She stopped at a door with the same emblem as the one on her robe.

“Do you really want to leave that badly? Hmph. You’ll have to prove yourself worthy.”

Toriel looked at me with stern eyes. She sighed and started shooting fireballs from her hands. I jumped out of the way and they hit the wall. Part of the wall was charred black and I charged at her. She slapped me across the face. Pain spread throughout my cheek. I checked my face. I wasn’t bleeding. I decided that it time to end it and rushed at Toriel once more. She thought I was going with a straight-on attack, but she was wrong. I ducked under her fist and I countered with my claws. I stabbed her right in the heart. Toriel’s eyes widened as blood spread from my claws and onto her robe. I pulled my claws out and she dropped to the floor. She started breathing heavy and tears were rolling down her face.

“W.. why..?”

I looked at her with a blank face.

“It doesn’t concern you. Now be good and die like the animal you are.”

I stepped over her and opened the door with the emblem on it. Toriel tried to stop me by grabbing my foot weakly.

“P..please… don’t… l..leav-”

She disintegrated and became a pile of dust.

“Looks like your talk of me not being worthy was for nothing after all.”
