Chapter 1
May 18
I’m sitting in the cafeteria listening to my best friend since 3rd grade, Ammia, rant about her spring break. “…and he snapped my hairbrush in half! So I told him to go fuck himself…. Cara? CARA?!”
I snao my head up from my elbows and give the cafeteria a once over to ensure nothing is going on. “Cara are you even listening to me?” She says, her voice a mix of aggravation and worry.
“Yeah Im listening.” I reply.
“Whats wrong?” Her voice is concerned now.
“Im fine.”
“Okay well. Anyways.. He snapped my hairbrush in half and ran off laughing after I told him to go fuck himself..” She continues ranting.
It seems like an eternity has passed by since lunch. My calculus teacher is going on and on about the pythagorean therom.
“May I use the restroom.” I raise my hand and blurt out. He nods his head and I rush to the bathroom. I snatch my concealer out of my purse and put three or four dots over the bruise on my cheek.
