"In Jigsaw, William Eldritch tells the story of Helen, who has gone to celebrate her sixteenth birthday with her best girl friends. As they go on a cycling trip, Helen loses contact with her friends to discover a sinister abandoned house. Entering the house, she is compelled to complete a puzzle, and, as she does, she begins to relive unhappy memories, the power of which build up. Being an adolescent can be a frightening, unhappy time: life is not always happy and carefree for a sixteen year old. William Eldritch certainly demonstrates how Helen is experiencing the negative aspects of teenage life, and, even as an adult male (who remembers being a male teenager) I felt some empathy with this sad young girl. I wondered if anything nice had ever happened to Helen, or was the point of the story to show how bad and negative experiences can take over one's life, and even one's existence. Jigsaw is not a story for the faint-hearted, but it definitely pieces a puzzle together to assemble a startling climax!"
Brilliant!
"This was the first time I have read anything by William Eldritch and it was a real treat. I found it rather disturbing at times, but that's what horror is all about. The nature of his descriptive writing puts you right there alongside his characters, as though you were actually with them. This just makes it all the more terrifying as the plot takes you to a place that you really don't want to go, but are compelled to go there anyway. I highly recommend reading this and can't wait to read more of his work. "

Another masterpiece from William Eldritch
"Although they are all brilliant, for me, this is the best of the three stories that this author has posted so far. Exceptionally well-written and truly terrifying, this story is also nostalgic, thought-provoking, and poignant. The happy adventure at the beginning is skilfully turned to unease, then an ever-growing dread, and finally, sheer terror. At the climax, I felt Helen’s fear as though it were my own. I am so glad I found this author."
