"A graphic "Gothick" style short story, set in the "West Country" of England in the eighteenth century. John and Ella, two innocent aristocratic lovers, celebrating their romance, halt their carriage for the night at "The Witches Inn". Little do they know the horrors that await. While there is a definite element of fantasy to this tale, William Eldritch has obviously researched the eighteenth century, and he makes a convincing portrayal of eighteenth century life. One of the defining eighteenth century "Gothick" supernatural stories was Horace Walpole's "Castle Of Otranto", published in 1764. (A genre parodied by Jane Austin in "Northanger Abbey" in 1817.) William Eldritch has continued in this tradition, and he genuinely captures the environment in which these stories took place (or the thought world of the well-to-do eighteenth century readership that these stories were written for. John and Ella have had little time together for intimacy, so when they stop at The Witches Inn" they can share their passion, their early experiences of love making are conveyed with eroticism and some power. But then.... .. well keep reading, but brace yourself for something unexpected!"

"Great story, very well written - if there were spelling or grammatical errors they were the same ones I'd make 😁 I certainly didnt notice any! The story reels you in from the first paragraph, and keeps you hooked to the very last word. A bit gory, a bit dark, a little bit erotic, perfect for a dark winter's night, or even a bright summer morning. My only complaint is that it left me yearning for more 😁 "
A masterpiece
"I recently read this on kindle. An exceptionally well-written work of mind-bending horror. I have been reading horror for a very long time, but this is the most horrific and disturbing story I have ever read. The brilliantly written detail drags you in, makes you a part of it, and will not let you go. It took me a while to recover from this one! I can’t find enough praise to heap on this extraordinary story. I will definitely follow this author!"
Truely gruesome.
"What a masterpiece. This short story is unbelievably graphic in nature, leaving very little to the readers imagination. But due to the very high standard of writing, you find yourself being completely enveloped into the authors very disturbing and descriptive storytelling. This is a must read for all horror fans. Although you may take a while to get over it."
Even better than Through a Lens!
"Wow! It’s taken me awhile to recover from this story. So tense, terrifying, and horrific. It is also brilliantly written. I read Through a Lens last week and said it was now my favourite short horror story; well, that was short-lived! This one really got under my skin. I’ve read hundreds of short horror stories, including Clive Barker, but I’ve never read anything this explicit before. I always thought I would not enjoy anything this graphic, but I loved it! The climax was amazing! While the climax to Through a Lens was brilliant in its subtlety and brilliant plot twist, Four-Poster is just as brilliant in its terrifying bloodbath. I especially like the bit about John being terrified of his own “pathetic” screams – truly inspired. Mr Eldritch, you have mentioned you are writing a sequel to Four-Poster; when do you think you will be ready to post it?"
Absolutely phenomenal.
"A brilliant story and brilliantly written. A strong build up to a frenzied and frenetic finish has you sweating from fear and gasping for breath. The graphic detail leaves little to the imagination but who cares when its wrote like this. Two books, two evenings now from this author. I see there is a third and a third evening will be spent. Cannot wait."

"wow, now that is what I would expect from a horror story! bravo. this was much better than jigsaw. intriguing plot with a good description of all the details. ravaging sex before a horrifing death, well done. i was hoping you would be better on another book. only one huge word, but i knew what it meant, lol. this story was fast paced and exciting. the only thing i found a little putting off was the fact there was very little dialog from the main characters. very fewe typos or errors. overall it was a great story. looking forward to reading the other book.i hope it's just as great. thank you for sharing."
