Prologue

“As the first snowflake settled, it whispered secrets of a winter tale waiting to unfold.” The guard read out-loud.

Rolling my eyes for the fiftieth time that week, I rose from the pissy twin size cot I was given, when I requested a fully functional bed.

“Will Jimmy and Kimmy be able to save Christmas, will -”

“Please stop your continuous reading from that foolish book!?” I exclaim as I turn in the cot, intending to get out of it to end his miserable existence but find myself unable too. The grounds of this prison have flooded once more.

“Does my reading?” Splosh, splash. “Not appease you.” He asks now standing directly in front of my cell. He knew it didn’t just like his master knew this constant flooding would interfere with my magic.

“Listen here, you irritating prick -”

“Careful with the insults …” He smiles as he chuckles once. “Goddess.” This bastard is mocking me, how infuriating. Splosh, splash. The guard makes his way to the door. “I’ll give your best to our emperor.” Splosh, splash, door closes.

The emperor would not be the first person I kill once I free myself from this watery prison. Oh no, it will be the guard and I will shove that little book of his down his throat, and I will burn this prison to the ground.
