Chapter One

From Nyx's Point of View

I roll my eyes as the triplets come into the coffee shop.

They are famous because they came from two earth elemental parents and it's rare for triplets to have different powers. Or whatever.

I personally am not impressed, nor have I ever been impressed.

Clearly, the girls my age find them impressive because all of them make eyes at them when they come in.

They come up to the counter.

Apollo almost barks at me, "our usual."

Admittedly, on my first day here, I had no idea what that was and they bullied me for it at the time.

Aries pokes Apollo, "you could ask nicely."

But even Aries doesn't bother to tip me as they find seats amongst their friends. They can never just sit together and make my job easier.

I bring them their coffee when it is done. The only one who even acknowledges me is Aries.

He looks at me intently, "are you coming to our party tonight?"

I shake my head, "I wasn't invited."

He swallows, "I am inviting you now. It would make me happy if you came."

I nod, "okay."

I go back to the counter.

I don't really care what would make him happy if I am honest but something in me makes me want to obey him.

I don't like that feeling in me as an unclaimed omega.

Even as I am rolling into 22, meaning I should have found my mate last year, I don't find myself caring if I do or not.

Aries comes up to the counter and pulls out some money, "I don't like to do this in front of my brothers, they seem to think it makes me a push over. But I do appreciate you remember what we like and taking such good care of us when we are here."

He pushes the money towards me, "you keep this just for you. And I do hope to see you tonight."

I pocket the money because frankly, I don't have the finances to refuse.

I am doing okay for myself but not great.

After a while, him and his brothers are gone.

I finish my shift and go home to get cleaned up.

I try to find something suitable but eventually I just settle for my favorite band t-shirt and a pair of jeans.

I drive up to their house. It sounds like chaos inside already and I contemplate just leaving but for some reason I really don't want to disappoint Aries.

I open the front door and step in.

I make my way through the crowd of girls, clearly waiting to see the triplets.

I don't really know what is appropriate to do at a party because admittedly, this is the first one I have been to.

I sit on the couch and after a bit Aries comes in.

He sits beside me, "I am glad you came."

I nod, "I wasn't going to."

He meets my eyes for a second, "why not?"

I shrug, "not a fan girl and this kind of seems like a party for them."

He laughs, "they are obnoxious."

Atlas is the next to come in, "hey coffee girl."

I bite my lip. He has always called me that and admittedly, it is the most annoying habit of his.

Aries rolls his eyes, "she has a name, asshole. It's..."

He looks down a little ashamed of himself, "I don't know your name."

I swallow a little, standing, "I really shouldn't have come. I don't belong here in the least."

Aries catches my hand, "no please don't leave."

His hand is warm.

I look at him, "why do you care if I stay? You have all these other girls here to cater to your ego."

His confidence disappears, replaced with slight desperation, "I think you are mine, I am just trying to figure out for sure."

Atlas comes closer, sniffing at me in a rather creepy manner, "she smells different."

I move away from both of them, "it isn't me, I can assure you that I don't belong to either of you."

In my attempts to back out of the room, I hit something solid.

I tilt my head back a little, catching a glimpse of Apollo.

He inhales slowly, "fuck. She smells good doesn't she?"

Atlas is moving closer, followed by Aries.

I hold up my hands, "no, we aren't doing this. I am going home."

Aries holds out his hand, his fingers sparking a little, "let me take you home."

I stare at his hand a little scared of what will happen if I say no.

He looks at his hand too, making the sparks stop, "sorry, I think I might just be a little excited."

I take his hand softly, "you may take me to my car."

He leads me through the girls, most of them let out small gasps and the others just stare at me.

He stands by my car, staring at me, "you didn't give me your name."

I look at the window, where a small group of girls are watching us. After a second, I realize it isn't just the girls. It's Apollo and Atlas too.

I look at my feet, "it's Nyx."

He brings my hand to his lips, softly kissing the back of it, "it is a pleasure to formally meet you Nyx. I am Aries."

I blush a little even though I told myself he couldn't charm me.

He slowly leans down to kiss me and for a second I want to let him but I turn away.

I open my car door, "I will see you around."

He stares at me, "no one has ever denied me what I want."

I stare at him, "I know."

I back out of his drive. He watches me the whole way out.

When I get home, I climb into bed.

I could care less if he is disappointed with me at this point.

To be honest, I hope they are all disappointed.

I could care less about whether or not if the triplets are happy with me honestly. They don't even know my name
