Saige

It was close to two A.M. when I opened my bedroom window and climbed out of the pack house into the night, naked. All I brought with me was a small bag that contained some clothes, a pair of shoes, and a little food. As soon as my feet hit the ground, I shifted into my wolf form, picked up my bag in my mouth and took off at a sprint. I headed toward the river. If I travel along the riverbanks, it will make my scent and tracks much more difficult for anyone to follow. I knew that following the river north would eventually lead me to a old hunting cabin my father had taken my brother and I to a couple of times when we were little. It was on the border of our territory, and probably not in very good shape by now, but a few days in a dilapidated old cabin would be immensely better than what I’d been through during my first heat. That was almost three months ago, but the memories were still fresh. Not only was I the alpha’s daughter, but I was also an Omega. Omegas are the broodstock of the wolf shifter world. Our scent on a normal day is tantalizing to unmated males, but when we’re in heat? Completely irresistible. I wouldn’t put my family in danger again like I had during my first heat. My father and brother had to lock me in my room and camp outside for four days to keep me safe. I had no choice but to listen, eyes squeezed shut, crouched in a corner of my room while they fought members of their own pack just to protect my purity. All the while, I was wrestling with the urge to jump out my window and offer myself to the first willing male I came across. The males trying to get to me were not bad wolves. They were just overcome by their instincts to mate. Under normal circumstances, the thought of challenging their Alpha in such a way would never even cross their minds. This heat stuff was no joke. It made me feel like I was burning from the inside out. Another Omega in our pack had warned me about what it would feel like, but I still was not prepared when the first one started. I had felt aroused plenty of times before, but this? This was different. It was a bottomless feeling of sexual need. One I can hardly even put words to. Touching myself would take the edge off momentarily, but I have a feeling there is only one thing that would truly put the fire out. Plus, who can really focus on getting them self off when their dad and brother are literally steps away on the other side of a door? That’s why I needed to get the hell out of here before it hit this time. I couldn’t let myself do something I’d regret, or worse let something happen to my dad and brother while they were trying to protect me. I just hope the note I’d left for them would be enough to convince them to trust my judgment and not come after me.

I traveled throughout the day, spending most of my time with my paws in the shallow water of the river’s shoreline. I wasn’t taking any chances on anyone being able to follow me. The daylight was fading when I reached the cabin. The first thing I did was sniff around the perimeter, looking for any signs of danger. There were none. This might just work after all. I trotted up the front steps onto the covered porch, pushed against the front door with my paws and stepped inside. It smelled musty, but everything else was just like I remembered. A large log framed bed, a kitchen table with two chairs and a small sofa positioned in front of the stone fireplace. It was chilly, and the human side of me was thankful for the pile of dry firewood stacked up in the corner of the room. I’d have to collect more tomorrow though. I shifted back to my human form, grabbed a pair of leggings, a baggy sweatshirt and some fuzzy socks out of my bag and threw them on. I had a fire going in no time, and got to work on cleaning the place up a little. I nibbled on a sandwich I had brought with me as I worked. Tomorrow I’d have to hunt for something to eat. As the night wore on, and the full moon shone it’s light through the cabin windows, I felt an old familiar feeling creeping up from between my legs. It started as a tingle and kept growing until there was no doubt in my mind. I had left home just in time.
