Act 3

The present

What is my name?

My name?

The cashier asked as I stared at the nicely placed coffee.

A pregnant pause followed that lifeless stare.

The only thing I once owned and called my own. A name means to be human, but I’m no human anymore, I feel nothing.

The clock ticked rapidly as I forced myself to smile, “Marsha.” I said, a lie.

My name wasn’t Marsha. But she didn’t need to know that. I gladly took the hot steaming coffee and was on my way.

3rd P.O.V

The place had gone quiet for a little bit, no noise, no screams and even no one shouting at someone. Sabrina pushed the wheelchair with her favourite aunt in it, while having a look around the place. It amused her at how neat and spacious the place was, more than she could imagine.

The walls were a darker shade of grey, one side of the wall had different types of swords aligned in a very appealing manner. Each sword showed the struggle of battles and sacrifices of blood, well… that was according to her aunt.

As you walked pass the family tree that Beth had spent years perfecting, showed on display. From Beth being a youngin to Sabrina running towards the beach with her golden locs. The was one photo that caught her eye, it was a little girl. Her smile beamed through, the dry ice cream around her lips gave the picture some of her goofy personality.

“She looks so happy..” Sabrina said more to herself.

{COUGHING}

“She was.” Beth followed.

The little conversation didn’t carry on beyond that. The aunt and niece strolled through the foyer, looking at the obstructed arts that you saw along the way.

Upon walking they reached a two-sided door, that required Sabrina to push since Beth couldn’t do it herself. This door led to her divine office. The fireplace was already lit, the head of the bear on the wall gave the whole room character. Sparks of flames from the fire made her emerald, green leather chairs glisten ever so slightly.

“Please take a seat, darling.” Her voice a bit hoarse than usual.

The blue-eyed Sabrina sat down at her request. “I’m so glad you could visit me, I know how your mother and I aren’t on the best of terms, or should I say your father and mother rather.”

Truth was, Sabrina had lied to her parents about going on an excursion with one of her friends.

“Uhm, of course. It’s been long since I’ve seen you. And when I heard about the accident I couldn’t even sleep.”

Beth was touched with the love Sabrina showered her with. She loved her as her own. “Do not feel for me, but I like to take it as a challenge to get up and look forward to life.”

“For how long you would be here for?”

“As long as you get tired of me,” a smile making its way to both of their lips.

“Tired of you? Impossible.”

Silence filled up the room.

“I want to become a part of your program…”

“Sabr- "

“No, I’m tired of you guys telling me what to do. I want to be useful; I want to help as well. I don’t want to be some rich bratty kid.”

“Sabrina, I won’t let you. It’s more than what you think, you have to undergo training which isn’t sweet. Hold a gun… I just can’t put you in such a position, your mother will have my head.”

“But aunt Beth, please,” she begged looking her straight in the eyes.

Beth couldn’t put her niece in such danger, and she couldn’t say no to her either, “Fine, but you will be my personal assistant. Meaning no training for you, or requested trips only follow ups and sorting out my meetings.”

Sabrina couldn’t be happier because she really wanted to help. Her aunt was a hero in her eyes, helping kids and people around the world. She couldn’t wait to get to know the team.

“So, when do I start?”

“How about tomorrow, now just get settled in.”

Her smile beamed as she thought about baking some muffins for the team. She couldn’t make up her mind if she wanted to go with vanilla or banana.

That morning Sabrina woke up extra early to prepare the muffins for everyone. She had no idea how many people were going to be there and so she made what she thought would be enough.

She wore her white pleated skirt and pink punk sweater. The brush made way towards her hair, with the 10th stroke she switched to the other side.

She stood outside of her aunt’s bedroom door at eight sharp, “Well what a pleasant surprise, I figured you would still be asleep by now.” Beth said already dressed up.

“I had to wake up extra early for the muffins,” lifting the filled basket to show her amazed aunt.

“How sweet of you to consider such. Let us leave at once.”

The car ride took longer than she expected, the car came to a halt after an excruciating three-hour drive. Sabrina had even lost route of how they came, since what she saw mostly were big green trees.

“We’re finally here!”

Take note, Sabrina is Beth’s niece. Sabrina’s mom is sisters with Beth. Sabrina has blonde hair and blue eyes. Beth has jet black hair with brown eyes.

Hope that helps;)
